Setting: USS ANUBIS, Serenna's Quarters
Walking into the main living area from the bedroom,
the Romulan/Terran hybrid glanced at the banner of the
Romulan Intel Agency hanging over her desk as she did
every morning. The routine was meant to remind the
COO of the kind of people that were out there
threatening the stability of the Federation and that
she had to remain vigilant at all times. Knowing an
opponent was the first step to defeating them, or at
least anticipate their next move something that the
Ops officer had done her very best to do everyday.
Looking upon the flag of the Tal'Shiar usually
summoned a feeling of loathing within the
Romulan/Terran hybrid, but this morning was not like
others. Spending the entirety of the previous night
mentally preparing herself for her new role as an
undercover agent of this organization, the COO had
suppressed her personal feelings towards the agency
replacing them instead with a sense of duty and
loyalty that the COO could only fathom about
beforehand. Feeling loyalty towards the Federation
and its ideals had always been second nature to
Serenna, but for the first time she began to
understand like never before the driving force behind
the Romulans and the Tal'Shiar.
Juxtaposing her feelings for the Federation and the
Romulan Star Empire in such a complete way had given
the COO an insight that the Romulan/Terran hybrid had
never previously considered. The difference between
the Federation and the Romulans had always been black
and white to the Ops officer, but now both appeared as
different shades of grey. Claiming to have the right
way, both sides had shone over the centuries their
strengths, as well as their weaknesses and although
she had spent quite a lot of time researching this, it
was not until this particular morning that the
Romulan/Terran hybrid saw some of the real advantages
of the Empire's way of ruling.
Taking a few steps back, the COO forced herself to
ignore this newly found loyalty in favor of the
allegiance she had held dear up to that point in time.
Thinking of the differences in political management,
the Romulan/Terran hybrid now more than ever found
that the ways of the Federation had been best and that
the allure of the Romulan Senate had only been an
additional proof that their ways could not be trusted,
but instead feared.
Embracing this new understanding, the Romulan/Terran
hybrid returned to her room to get dress for her duty
shift in which she had already planned to push deeper
her research of her new identity and the role that the
COO would be required to fulfil during this unique
mission.

Stepping onto the bridge ahead of schedule the
Romulan/Terran hybrid found the CO already sitting in
his chair at the center of the room, his eyes cast
down on a PADD that he held in one hand while the
other rubbed the back of his neck. Heading for her
station at the front of the bridge, the COO announced
her presence suspecting that the captain had been too
involved in his reading to have noticed her arrival.
"Captain, I see that I am not the only one who likes
to get an early start on the day."
Lowering the PADD away from his eyes, the CO turned
to face the approaching COO. "Do not mistake an
overburdened mind for an eagerness to work; I am here
because it was the only place that I could sit down
and think without behind overwhelmed by the silence
that had been following me. As little as it might
have been, the sounds of the instruments were in some
ways comforting."
Taking her position at the operations station, the
Romulan/Terran hybrid could only figure that it had
been the CO's engineering background that had been
accountable for him finding the repetitive sounds of
the stations within the bridge soothing. Being the
person that she was, the COO found the absence of such
background noise more relaxing and better suited for
her thinking and contemplating of whatever issues
might be troubling her. Not feeling that it was her
place to inquire as to what had been on the CO's mind,
given that she was only the Second Officer and that
the captain was bethroved to a Cns, the Romulan/Terran
hybrid dove into her work without any further delay.
After confirming that the ANUBIS was as it had been
left the day before, the COO called up all available
information about the Tal'Shiar agent that she had
been assigned to substitute for. Looking onto the
image on file, the Romulan/Terran hybrid realized just
how human certain of her features were, making the
task of taking on the role of Sevaal that much more
complicated.
Changing her hair color to be more like that of a
Romulan would not be all that difficult, but adding in
the sharp contrast she could see on the woman's face
and which she knew were either lacking or understated
in her own would require the COO to schedule some time
with the ship's CMO. Having accepted that some
physical changes would be required, the Romulan/Terran
hybrid continued her research, learning as much as she
could about this Sevaal.
Working under the alias of T'Pring, a Vulcan
commodities' trader, the Tal'Shiar agent had been
captured by the combined efforts of SFI and the Vulcan
Intel Department less than a week ago. Having
apprehended Sevaal while on VULCAN had been something
of a gamble but both agencies agreed that her presence
so deep inside Federation space meant that she had
been working alone, without the support of a ship or
team.
Using interrogation methods which included several
Vulcan mind-melds, certain aspects of Sevaal's mission
surfaced, one of the most interesting having been a
scheduled meeting with another operative on the
TANGIERS ORBITAL. Thanks to the training imposed on
Tal'Shiar agents, the real Sevaal had not revealed
very much about this meeting, forcing SFI to be a
little more creative about their methods of
investigation which now included the ANUBIS' COO
taking on the role of Sevaal.
Hoping to uncover a spy network operating within
Federation space, the Romulan/Terran hybrid would be
sent in to make contact with this other operative and
find out as much as possible without allowing her true
identity to become known by anyone using the large
number of people drawn by the TANGIERS ORBITAL annual
event as cover.
