#027 - USS ANUBIS: Mei: Day 3 - 1805 ("Susan and Sol")

--------
"Susan and Sol"
(previous post the caring "Quiet Visitor")
-------

Stardate: 60314.1805
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Upper level of the "Black Hole"

Susan watched David and Lea from the corner of her eye as she seated herself down and ordered fish in Bajoran Katai sauce. She was acquiring a taste for some of the Bajoran dishes and thought she might even continue to enjoy them when she was back being boring old Susan Mei.

This undercover stuff was fun. Her thoughts drifted slightly as remembered her favorite holonovel when she'd been younger. She couldn't remember what it had been called... but it had involved skulking through the streets of downtown Manhatten as an FBI agent of the 20th century. Undercover. Picking up information. Busting badguys. All in a day's work. Her father hadn't approved: said it was too violent. But she'd loved it.

With a cat-like grin at the memory of her father's face the day she'd 'forgotten' to turn on the safeties and broken her arm, Susan looked down at the PADD she'd brought with her. It was her to-do list which some would of called a schedule. The next item on the list was David's session at 19:00. She'd been bracing herself for it all day. The last thing she felt like at that minute was someone coming to her for the sole purpose of getting angry... or talking about it which usually amounted to the same thing... but that's what she was here for.

With a mental sigh she scrolled down. The next appointment was with some poor ensign who'd got word that his favorite grandfather had died and knew he couldn't go to the funeral. That was at 06:00 tomorrow. In between David's appointment and the ensign's, there were eleven hours of Susan time. Or Sol-time. Eight of those hours had to be dedicated to sleep. That left three hours. One for meals and two for...

Susan thought for a minute. **Niema**

Suddenly all that Sol-time seemed very short.

During her free time, Susan had been finding out all she could about the Bajoran girl she was supposed to be playing. Apparently the real Niema was Susan's age and shortly after receiving her inheritance, she'd bought herself a small ship and set out into the unknown. Never to be seen again.

Until now, of course.

There wasn't much information available on Sol, but her father, Niema Kat, had quite a record for being a nice friendly guy who got along with everyone. In other words: a rat. Susan supposed she couldn't blame him for trying to dig his way out of the gutter he was born into by playing one side against the other during the occupation. He did have a family to support after all... but still, Susan was happy that she wasn't really Sol and didn't really have him as a father.

If there was little available on Sol, their was even less available on Minera, her mother. Next to nothing, in fact. All Susan could find was that the poor woman was dead. Susan supposed that if she was dead, then it didn't really matter what information she had on her... but it still irked her that there was a gap in her knowledge.

Suddenly a thought struck her and she paused with her fork halfway to her mouth and chuckled out loud. It seemed that Susan and Sol had more in common than she had first thought.
