Stardate: 60318.1023
Setting: USS ANUBIS - Enaii's Office (IGC)

Enaii sat in her desk, reviewing the reports of what had happened in her absence. She had yet to announce her return to the ship to anyone save for the Operations Officer, and the people in the IGC were trained not to spread the word.

It wasn't that she was unhappy to be back, in fact the ANUBIS felt more like a home to her than any other ship before ever had, but she did not yet want to face the crew, not without first knowing every little detail of what had occurred during the last three weeks.

Then of course, there was Sabrina. She wanted to see her, she wanted to smell the perfume of her hair and forget that she had ever been away, but she knew her wife would want answers, answers she could never give. Secrecy and deceit were the nature of Intel, the nature of Enaii, the nature of the beast. Sabrina would need to understand that, she would eventually, but the freshly debriefed Operative was not in a rush to explain it to her.

Looking up at the video monitor of the IGC as a Junior Lieutenant approached the doorway to her office, Enaii refrained from smiling as she pressed a button to allow the doors to open.

"Sir, as requested," the eager young Intel Officer offered as he placed a small child on the floor and immediately exited the room.

As the doors slid closed, Enaii stood and moved away from her desk so that her daughter could have clear access to her.

"NAN'HA!!!" the girl screeched as she flew toward the open arms of her mother, planting kiss after slobbery kiss on the adult's cheek.

Breathing in the scent of her child deeply, Enaii closed her eyes and squeezed the girl tightly close to her chest. "I missed you Talia," she whispered.

"I miss you too," the four year old replied, her thick Romulan accent having improved ever so slightly in the woman's absence, finally pushing away from her mother. "Bina miss you too."

The mother smiled weakly. "I know, I missed Sabrina too, but I can't see her right now."

"You fraid?" the girl asked innocently, causing her mother to chuckle.

"I'm not afraid of nothing," the mother replied, standing up and winking at her daughter. "Now what would you say to a chocolate fondue while we wait for Lieutenant Serena to arrive?"

The child furrowed her brow, "I say Bina hurt we eat chocate."

Enaii grinned at her child's thoughtfulness, a roundness of character that would never have been possible if she had decided to raise her alone instead of with the Executive Officer's help. "You're right, we shouldn't eat chocolate without Sabrina." The woman paused a moment, "But… we could have fresh fruit and whipped cream instead???"

The little girl licked her lips and rubbed her stomach, "I hope Reena late…"
