Stardate: 60321.1030
Setting: TANGIERS ORBITAL, unknown room

A sharp pulling sensation on her hair made Lea snap out of her unconsciousness. The instincts of the CMO had made her try to move away but to no avail. Lea could not know how much time had elapsed but she knew two things for certain. Her bonds were as tight as ever, and she was still alive as proven by the pain she felt.

"She knows nothing," the man interrogating Lea said. Lea could not tell if this other person had been in the room or conversing through some communication device. What the CMO knew though was that she was in trouble. Although the voice or her interrogator had been the same, the tone had grown colder, meaner. As the Halanan named Brendil Nanuska, Lea knew nothing of the ship named AVALON. The problem was that if she could convince her captors of this, it could very well be the last thing she did. Somewhere down the line those who had brought her here had linked her to that ship. All that she had to do now was to confirm this link without revealing anything important or classified. Lea needed to find a way to stay alive until someone came to her rescue. Again.

Lea looked over her shoulders as far back as she could, trying to see her captor but her bonds had made this nearly impossible. With fear increasing exponentially with each passing second, Lea decided to speak and give the unknown man at least a semblance of a reason to keep her alive.

"Hmmm hrmmph," was all that Lea had managed. Although awake once again, Lea had not realised that a gag had been placed in her mouth to stop her from calling for help. Of course this also meant that her captor had decided that the Halanan was no longer worth the trouble which was bad news for Lea.

"Don't worry," the man standing behind Lea said, the coldness in his voice even more tangible than before. "All of your troubles will be over soon."

"Please, I want to tell you something,* Lea tried to say which came out as "Pmmph Hmmm Phrmm Hum Nrmph." The idea to give her captor something to keep him interested in her had been a good idea, but Lea thought that it had come too late. It seemed that her fate had been sealed and that the end would soon be upon her. When Lea heard the sound of footsteps approaching from behind, she doubled her efforts. The slew of non-sense that came out of the CMO was in many ways similar to what had been expected from the CSciO. The only difference being that in Maya's case, what was said actually made sense. Because of the gag securely placed in her mouth, only a garbled mess was heard.

As hard as Lea tried, it seemed that she could not get her captor to listen. After several minutes of pleading as best she could, the CMO broke down and started to cry. Wife of a deceased Halanan diplomat or not, the situation had more than warrant such a reaction. Not that Lea had planned it that way. At least the last time she had faced death she had been with someone else who had given her strength. Right now she was alone, and felt more desperate than ever before.

When the feeling of cold steel touched her neck, Lea's pleading resumed with all of the energy she had left. How could this have happened? How could a simple Intel gathering mission turn into her being sooner or later found dead? Intel was not for the weak-hearted, but this had pushed back all boundaries.

"I think she is trying to tell you something," a voice coming from further back in the room said. Although she did not know who this second voice belonged to, Lea was eternally grateful to its owner. Although the coldness of the metal still touched her neck, there had been no pressure behind it. This meant that Lea had been given a reprise, for as short as it might be.

"She's like all the others who don't have a backbone," the first man said. The icy touch of his breath matched in an eerie way the feel of the blade against her neck. "She is begging for her life, nothing more."

Lea frantically shook her head, trying as much as possible not to apply pressure to the blade set against her flesh. "AHAHON!"

"Sounds like she said 'AVALON'," the second man said. Although grateful for his presence, Lea could tell that he was not the compassionate type. The only reason why he had held his friend back had been because he believed that they might still have some use for the Halanan woman.

"I should have killed her when I had the chance," the first man said as he removed the blade from Lea's neck. The undercover SFI agent had been given another chance, one that she would have to make good use of.
