Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
Overseeing the bridge from her position behind the XO's station, the Romulan/Terran hybrid had a good view of the chaos that had been enlisted by the yet to be explained appearance of the creatures that had been reported all over the ship. Looking a little upset, the Sec/Tac officer followed the movements of her security forces along with those of the Marine Corps which had moved against the intruders. Concentrating on the problems inside, Eva had given the XO the task of keeping track of the two problems outside which were approaching the ship.
Glancing over to Eca who seemed to have a solid grasp of the situation onboard the ANUBIS, the Romulan/Terran hybrid decided to bring the focus of their CO to their other problem. "Captain, those two GALOR-Class destroyers are going to be within optimal firing range in less than 20 seconds, I recommend retreat while we deal with our internal issues."
Turning around in her chair to look at the XO, the CO moved her eyes a little further back to the science station located behind and to the side of the Romulan/Terran hybrid, the Captain having thought of another possible problem thanks to her background in science. "Lt. Maya, can we go to warp with those sub-space apertures inside the ANUBIS?"
Scanning her instruments as fast as she could, the Shillian took only a few seconds to provide the CO and the rest of the bridge crew with a hypothesis and answer. "I am now reading only 12 apertures onboard the ship, and from what the internal sensors are reporting these are dimensional gateways. Given what little we know about such phenomenon and that the sub-space anomalies *moved* from where they were first detected to be where they are now, I would say that escaping would not only be possible but a good idea."
Wasting no time the CO turned to face the front of the bridge once again and addressed the COO and FCO. "Plot in a reverse course and engage at maximum warp, it looks like we will have to find another way to find out where the crew of the MERCURY is."
Dancing over their respective consoles, the hands of the FCO and COO relayed the orders they had received leaving Annie to be the bearer of bad news. "Warp drive is unavailable.
Pounding the control panel located on the armrest of her chair, the CO was quick to demand an explanation having to repeat her question several times before someone cared to provide some sort of reply. "Rikar to engineering. What the devil's going on down there?! We've lost warp."
Appearing ready to give another command, one that would not rely on their warp engines, the CO was interrupted by the reply of one of the engineers. =/\=Captain, this is Lieutenant Yates. Lieutenants Dawson and T'Reni are down, we have intruders… well… had intruders down here and we're evacuating M.E.=/\=
Looking concerned for both her ship and crew, the CO questioned, "Ken, what the hell's happening down there?"
=/\=We were invaded Captain. T'Reni was severely burned, David's bleeding...=/\=
Leaning back into her chair, Rikar let out a short sigh before ending the conversation with the engineer. "Do what you have to Ken. Bridge out."
Seeing that the satiation down in Main Engineering had troubled their CO, the Romulan/Terran hybrid quickly moved in to refocus the thoughts of their captain. "Sir, GALOR-Class destroyers are powering up forward weapon platforms, optimal firing range in five seconds."
Not having warp drive meant that the ANUBIS could not perform a quick exit, but in no way did this mean that they had no alternate course of actions at their disposal. Taking control of the situation as she had been coached by their former CO, Rikar dismissed her immediate concerns and took on a confident air as she spoke. "Helm, full impulse and evasive pattern delta, get us out of here.
Although large, the ANUBIS began a nimble exit out of the region of space elegantly dodging the weapons fires that had been unleashed by the two Cardassian warships. Looking over to her XO, the CO waited to hear as to the success or failure of their little escape.
Looking at her instruments, the Romulan/Terran hybrid appeared a little puzzled by what she saw, but content to report her findings. "The two Cardassian GALOR-Class vessels have broken pursuit; it looks like they were not expecting us to be able to escape."
Reporting on the situation inside of the ANUBIS, Ens. Doratheva presented the CO and XO with the most likely possibility. "The initial attack was probably meant to knock out our systems, but for one reason or another it was unsuccessful."
Jumping in with her own report, the CSciO offered an update on the status of the 12 remaining sub-space apertures that had still been onboard the ANUBIS prior to the ship making its escape. "Internal sensors report *no* sup-space distortions or intruders anywhere onboard the ship. I cannot explain why as of yet but suspect that they were anchored in some way to that region of space, so in order to avoid having their gateways close behind them the intruders retreated and closed the dimensional portals to avoid us following them."
Standing from her chair, the CO turned to Eva and motioned her to follow her captain as she walked up to the turbolift at the back of the bridge. Walking there, Rikar turned to the Romulan/Terran hybrid and explained what she wanted to happen. "Ens. Doratheva and I are going to inspect the ship and see what exactly happened down there. After what happened I don't fully trust the internal sensors and I want to see what those things have done to my ship. Cmdr. Serenna you have the bridge."

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Main Engineering
Following their visit to Sickbay and the news of the death of one of the intruders, the CO and Sec/Tac officer went down to see for themselves what had invaded the ANUBIS and caused so much chaos. Stepping into the large room, it did not take any moment for the two women to identify the creature that had penetrated their defences, the size of the being and the mess that it was in making it impossible to miss.
Approaching with great caution, the two women were amazed by the completely alien appearance of the black colored creature which seemed to have come out from a child's nightmare. After looking at the creature for a few moments, the CO turned to her escort. "Have that *thing* transported to as secured location and placed under heavy protection. Dead or not, I don't want any more surprises coming out of those things. Once that is done, inform Lt. Maya and Ens. Summers that we have something for them and have them perform whatever experiment they need to do to figure out *what* these things are and what their role is in all of this."
Nodding her understanding, Eva watched as the CO left Main Engineering to continue the survey of the ANUBIS leaving her in charge of whatever that creature was.
