Setting: USS ANUBIS, Black Hole Lounge

Lea gazed through the windows at the motionless stars. After having watched Elan work, it had been nice to relax. There seemed to be a correlation between the size of engineers and the amount of work they did. The research into this could have proven to be very informative, but Lea was just too tired. What the CMO needed was some time off away from the chaos that had taken over the ship.

"Mind if I join you?" Eva asked. The Chief of Security looked about as tired as the CMO did.

"Pull up a chair," Lea replied. This could prove to be a good opportunity to learn more about the Edo/Betazoid.

"What is the daily poison?" Eva asked, looking at the steaming mug cradled in Lea's hands. Being as tired as she was, Lea took a moment to understand the question. When she did, the CMO looked down at the mug and tried to remember what she had ordered. It was only after Lea took a deep sample of the aura coming from the cup that she recalled what she had asked for.

"Mint tea," Lea said thinking that it was lucky that she was no longer in Sickbay taking care of patients. In the mental state that she was in, the CMO could have easily done more harm than good.

Not feeling in the mood to try something else, Eva turned to the waiter. "I'll have a cup of Iced Mocha," Eva said before turning back to Lea and smiling. "Sorry, I have done enough trying new things for one day."

"There is no need to apologise," Lea said returning Eva's smile. "I wasn't in the mood for something new either. Sometimes enjoying those simple pleasures we know we like is the best remedy."

"I will be glad when we get this rescue mission over and done with," Eva sighed. The work that the Chief of Security had done with the Ops Officer and Intel Operative had been very demanding. Not on a physical level but on a mental and emotional one. All this stress had weighed heavily on everyone, but it was the Ensigns who seemed most affected. At least to the rest of the crew, the more senior officers having long learned to hide this from others.

"Maybe so," Lea said taking a sip from her drink. "But after this mission there will be another, and after that one another. That is the price we pay for being in Intel. Explorers can spend months and even years doing nothing but the regular routine. Our routine is to deal with the ever changing world around us."

"I guess you are right," Eva said, not liking the idea of being in a position where she would have nothing new to challenge her. As Chief of Security on an Intel ship, Eva could look forward to being in the middle of something new almost on a daily basis. If she had wanted a less challenging role, Eva could have chosen another post. Like that of a Security Officer on a remote base with next to no traffic.

"As much as I complain about all of the injuries sometimes," Lea said with a grin, "I wouldn't change a thing. I could never understand Doctors who want their sickbay to be empty all of the time. It is nice when it is, but it is also nice to feel needed. From what I have seen of you in action, I think that the ANUBIS is a better place because of you."

"You are starting to sound more and more like a Cns, and less and less like a CMO," Eva said with a chuckle.

"That's what I get for having Susan drop into Sickbay every day," Lea laughed. The CMO and Cns had become good friends since their arrival to the ANUBIS. That friendship had only reinforced Lea's belief that the ship was just the place for her.

"If you don’t like my visiting you, I'll stay in my office from now on. I could always use the extra time to do more psychological analyses," Susan says as she joined the two Ensigns at the table.

"And not keep track of your number one patient?" Lea said jokingly, referring to herself as being the one needing to most counselling.

"Lea, if you were my top patient, I would be bored out of my skull," Susan said, waiving the waiter to come to take her order.

"You know," Lea grinned," I'm not sure if that was a compliment or an insult."

"Looks like Eva figured it out though," Susan said, looking at the large smile that brightened the face of the Security Officer.
