Stardate: 60325.1230
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Sickbay
Lea had returned to Sickbay to make sure that everything was in place for the arrival of the MERCURY's crew. Maya had been more than happy with their work on the virus so it was only a matter of time before the rescue would be attempted. Only the life-threatening casing would be brought here, but those would be the most important. Lea had no idea what to expect, so of course she anticipated the worst possible scenarios.
When Susan walked in, the Cns found the CMO giving out orders to her staff like a military sergeant. To a visitor, Lea would have appeared to be a ruthless medic, but Susan knew her friend better.
"Relax Lea," Susan said, "or you are going to need one of those beds when your pressure blows. Everything is as ready as it will ever be. You made sure of that, so there is no need to drill your staff."
"What do you mean 'drill my staff'?" Lea asked, snapping around like a vicious animal.
Susan just looked at her friend with a look that said it all. It didn't take long for Lea to realise what she had done making her feel pretty silly. After a few seconds, Lea started to laugh which Susan took as a good sign. "Feel better?"
"Everyone," Lea said to the myriad of nurses and med techs running around the room, "take a break. You have all earned it." Turning back to her friend, the CMO added, "thanks."
"Don't mention it. I was doing it for me than anyone else. This way I won't have to listen to your staff complain about just how mean you can be." Susan said with laughter causing Lea to smile.
"Once this mission is over, I think I will lose myself in a good holo-novel. That, or a nice sandy beach with lots of very muscular men trying to win my heart." Lea said while heading to her office.
"You definitively have a healthy imagination," Susan said while following her friend as she entered her office. "Might be healthy enough to make me and others join you," the Cns chuckled.
"Could you imagine all of us going to a place like that?" Lea said trying to imagine how each would react. "I have no problems seeing Sabrina in that scene, but Serenna is another story."
Susan nodded. "I can see the captain enjoying herself on a beach like that, but I personally have a harder time seeing Enaii enjoying herself. I think Serenna could actually find it within her to enjoy the moment."
"Only if one of those muscular men challenged her to a wrestling match," Lea said. "Enaii and Sabrina would likely find some isolated spot for the two of them. That would leave the others with us."
"I wouldn't count on Maya being too interested in those beach bodies," Susan whispered. "She already has her eyes on someone else."
Lea grinned from ear to ear as she thought of the marine and scientist. As opposite as the two of them were, they could not hide their attraction for one another. The entire senior staff had noticed the glances the two of them shared when in the same room. It also had not required being a Cns to see that they each became more nervous when the other came near. It seemed that everyone else on the ship knew about their attraction for each other, except for them.
"So it would be just the three of us. Sounds truly wonderful," Lea sarcastically said. "Serenna is not exactly the type to be the life of any party."
=/\= Serenna to Doctor Summers, please report to the SPHINX, =/\= the woman in question said.
"To the SPHINX? Why?" Lea asked, hoping that someone had not been injured.
=/\= Because you have been volunteered to go with the Marines to SURIAL III. =/\= Serenna said with such seriousness that Lea could only look at Susan with an 'I told you so' expression.
"I do think that I it would be better if I stayed onboard the ANUBIS," Lea said while Susan remained absolutely quiet.
=/\= According to your own report everything is ready up here. I need you down there to assess the medical needs of the MERCURY's crew and take care of any emergencies. =/\= The hybrid said indicating that she would be leading the away mission.
"Very well," Lea sighed. "Let me get my med kit. I'll be there in a few minutes."
=/\= Perfect, =/\= Serenna continued. =/\= Could you also inform Ens. Mei that she will be accompanying us. We may require her assistance as well once we are down there. =/\= The hybrid said as if knowing that the Cns had been in the same room.
"I will tell her," Lea said with a grin as she watched the expression on her friend's face change. "I am sure that she will be more than happy to help."
=/\= Good, see you both there. =/\= Serenna said as she closed the channel, missing by a fraction of a second Susan's gasp
