Setting: SPHINX, Command Section
Lea watched with trepidation the scene on the other side of the main window of the SPHINX. The Marines had engaged and conquered the automated defences surrounding the prison. The sounds of battle had reached the CMO through the platted armour of the SPHINX. Each explosion had made Lea cringe as she tried not to imagine who could have been hit.
Lea knew that Prav and the others were experts in their field, but she still feared for them. Lea also cheered for them in silent as their victory against the large automated guns meant that it would soon be over. The CMO followed with her eyes the movements of the Marines led by Pravat. Lea had counted three less of them but figured that they had been out of sight. Thinking the worst right now would only make Lea become a basket case, and no one needed her to be that way.
From her seat at the front of the SPHINX's command section Lea watched as the Marines discovered an entrance beneath the sand. Everything seemed to be fine until the hatch was opened and weapon fire filled the area. In an instant the lead Marine was down and Lea was out of her seat.
"Where are you going?" Serenna asked of Lea. Although not known for her dexterity the CMO had surprised the ExO with how fast she had moved. In the blink of an eye Lea had gone from being seated to being half way to the back of the command section.
"Pravat is down," Lea said, "I have to get to him."
Susan tilted her head while looking at Lea. The Cns could not believe that the CMO had been that brave. Maybe Susan had misjudged Lea during all of those hours spent together in the ANUBIS' Sickbay. "I doubt that it is all that safe out there," Susan said as if wanting to make sure Lea knew what she was doing.
"I know," Lea said looking impatient, "but I still have to go and help him. You said that you needed me down here, what good am I to the mission if I cannot do what it is I do best?" The CMO asked of the ExO.
Serenna seemed reluctant to let Lea go but eventually agreed to let the CMO go to the aid of Pravat. The automated defences had been disabled and the rest of the Marines would hopefully provide sufficient cover. The ExO also thought that she did not want to have to face Maya should something happen. The relationship between the CSciO and MCO was well known to all, and the ExO did not want to have to face the Shillian with a bad news.

Setting: SURIAL III, outside of the SPHINX
Lea jumped out of the SPHINX and saw three bodies lying on the sand. Her blood froze in her veins as she walked past them. Even without using her tricorder Lea could tell that it was too late for them. The severity of the injuries had sealed their fate. All that Lea could do was continue and hope that Pravat's injuries were not as extensive.
"What are you doing here?" Pravat asked through his clenched teeth as he watched Lea kneel over him.
"I am here to take care of your injuries," Lea replied, opening her field medical kit and reaching for a hypospray.
"The area is not safe," the Marine said, "you should not be here."
"Listen," the CMO said in a tone that surpassed her rank. "I was dragged down here to help anyone injured. Right now you fit that description more than you probably care to admit. Let me take care of you so that I don't have to tell Maya that you died because you were too stubborn to listen."
Whatever argument Pravat might have had vanished the moment Maya's name was mentioned. No longer having to justify her presence and work to the Marine, Lea could get to work. It would take some time but the CMO would be able to save the Enaran from the fate that the other three had suffered.
