Stardate: 60325.1630
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge

Waiting for the CSciO and ILO to complete their work on getting control of the satellites orbiting SURIAL III, the Romulan/Teran hybrid had been left in charge of the bridge and ship while their CO thought about what Cmdr. Wellington had said earlier. Imagining their CEO having been possessed by some sort of entity could explain many things but the XO had a hard time settling her mind on the entity in question being a *ghost*. Recalling the exact words spoken by the MERCURY's XO Serenna agreed that there was room in this universe for an amazing number of possibilities, but that still did not mean that the Intel trained officer could and would be ready to believe in spirits.

Looking at the duo working at the science station, the XO took a moment to assess their progress by watching their reactions, or more to the point the reactions of the CSciO since observing the ILO for any outwardly signs of anything could have been compared to watching the night's sky for a star to go nova. Judging by the expression on Maya's face the Romulan/Terran hybrid concluded that the pair had been making progress but that it had been far from having met with their expectations which could only mean one thing: they would have to continue waiting while being almost nose to nose with multiple Cardassian ships.

Trying not to think of the situation in orbit the Romulan/Terran hybrid's thoughts went onto the small team that had remained on the planet hoping that they had managed to remain out of trouble since the ANUBIS had been rendered powerless to help them. Contemplating the possibilities of their CEO not getting himself into any sort of trouble was nearly impossible to say the least when considering that David might have been under the influence of some external entity and that he had been inside of a Cardassian and Romulan controlled prison with a Nausicaan and Hirogen by his side.

Thinking about the two officers of the MERCURY that had joined forces with the ANUBIS' CEO, the XO could not help but recall a childhood memory from when she was on the MOON colony of NEW BERLIN. Remembering her first encounter with a Nausicaan the Romulan/Terran hybrid cringed as she admitted to no one but herself that her opinion of the race had been less than flattering.

Recalling images of the actions of the son of a Nausicaan trader that had travelled to NEW BERLIN, the loathing the Romulan/Terran hybrid felt for the race as a whole grew to almost surpass that of her disdain for the people responsible for half of her heritage. Remembering the child to be young because of his clothing, the XO also recalled the same child being very bullish using his larger size and appearance to scare other children away from the playground. Many of the other children had vacated the area not wanting to confront the Nausicaan brat but since Serenna had never been one to play with the others she had remained on a distant bench where she had been sitting.

Having claimed the playground as his own the Nausicaan child soon find it necessary to expand his domain which came to include the bench that the Romulan/Terran hybrid had been sitting on. Having the pride of a Romulan coursing through her veins Serenna had not budged from where she had been sitting despite the approach of the large and menacing boy.

Looking down at the sitting girl the Nausicaan snarled as he saw the defiance growing in the eyes of the pointed-ear girl instead of seeing the fear he had been expecting to find. The confrontation between the two was unavoidable and had the Romulan/Terran hybrid been more friendly with the other children of the colony maybe some would have come to her aid, but that had not been the case leaving Serenna to fend for herself against someone whom she could not hope to win against.

Dismissing her human reasoning that pleaded for her to leave before things got out of hand and report the incident to her parents the Romulan/Terran hybrid stood her ground against the Nausicaan.

Remembering the incident itself proved to be more difficult than the XO had anticipated, her memories jumping to the moments after the Nausicaan was leaving the playground and the other children began to return. Many ignored the little girl that had been left face-first on the grass but others had come to look at what had happened. Not remembering the battle that had taken place had likely been the result of the psychological trauma caused by the laugher of the others as they returned.

Clinching her fist in an atypical display of anger, the Romulan/Terran hybrid embraced her inner hatred of the Naussicaan child and all of those who belonged to the same race because of what they had done to her in her youth.

Not having noticed the change in their XO's posture the CSciO approached the Romulan/Terran hybrid with a bounce in her step. "Commander, we have done it. Well, actually it was Lt. Cmdr. Enaii that did it, I was just assisting her in finding a way to reprogram the orbital platforms, which she did quite expertly I might add. Anyway we should have complete control of the satellites within the next 20 to 30 minutes as the base program giving us control spreads throughout the orbital network."

Expecting to see some sort of joy or at least acceptance coming from the Romulan/Terran hybrid the CSciO was stunned to see immeasurable anger looking back at her from the eyes of the XO. The expression forming on the face of the scientist quickly made Serenna realize that she had allowed her personal feelings to take hold of her and be openly displayed, a situation that the hybrid quickly corrected. "Great work, how are you doing in finding a way for us to beam to the planet?"

Looking relieved that the anger that had been present on the face of the XO had apparently not been directed at her, the CSciO glanced over her shoulder to the ILO before replying. "We are still working on that aspect of the problem but Lt. Cmdr. Enaii has come up with a few interesting ideas that we were just about ready to explore."

Nodding her agreement before returning to her work, the Romulan/Terran hybrid chastised herself for having allowed her thoughts to drift so far away from their current situation. Whatever had happened on NEW BERLIN was in the past and now she needed to concentrate to the moment at hand, regardless if it involved a Nausicaan, a Hirogen or whatever other alien race that might be on SURIAL III.
