Lunch had been great and Uxtar had learned that the legendary appetite of the Nausicaans had been no myth. Hirogens were not known for their manners and lack of ability to clear multiple plates but when compared to Nico, Uxtar had been several lengths behind.
After having shared some unique cuisine the two had gone their separate ways to see what other wonder this ANUBIS held in store. Uxtar quickly discovered that many of the area which had sounded truly interesting had been off limits to him. It made sense since he was not a member of this crew but his hunting instincts made Uxtar push to get more information on certain things by listening to what others were saying.
On his way to the bridge in response to his having been summoned by the CO of the ship, Uxtar reviewed some of what he had heard. As interesting as it had all been the Hirogen could not imagine that this had been the reason for his having been told to go see the captain. If he had done something wrong why had security not stepped in?
Although many questions flowed in Uxtar's mind there had been no reason for him to not act as he had been asked. Following the chain of command was something that every Hirogen was bred to do and Uxtar was no different. If a superior officer told him to jump, he would just do it without even asking how high.

Uxtar stepped onto the bridge and was immediately impressed by the layout. Comparing the MERCURY's bridge to that of the ANUBIS had been like comparing a freighter to a cruiser, there was nothing similar other than the most basic of elements.
"The captain is waiting for you," someone said reminding Uxtar that he had not come here to visit the bridge or imagine how interesting it would be to pilot this ship. The Hirogen followed the directions he had been given and stood in front of the door to the captain's office waiting to be let in and discover what this had been all about.

"Ensign Uxtar reporting as requested, sir." The Hirogen as he walked in and stood at attention in front of the young woman who appeared neither scared or impressed that a Hirogen in a Starfleet uniform had come to stand before her.
"At ease, Ensign Uxtar", the CO replied meeting the Hirogen's gaze. "I haven’t much time Ensign, so I will get straight to the point. Captain Arlington has expressed his wish that I take you on as a member of my crew."
Uxtar was stunned. What was he suppose to say in reply to such an announcement. With the MERCURY destroyed it made sense that the crew would be reassigned, but the Hirogen had believed that a new ship would have been given to their CO and that the entire crew would continue on. It was only when Captain Rikar made the announcement that Uxtar realized that he had been somewhat naïve. Pending a formal inquiry into what had happened the senior officers would have to wait while the rest of the crew were scattered throughout the fleet on various other assignments.
"Your Captain seems to feel the ANUBIS would be the ideal commission for you and after reading the report on your actions on SURIAL III I tend to agree. Your file states that you are an experienced pilot," the ANUBIS' CO said trying to bring this meeting to a quick end. She had nothing against Uxtar, but there were many things that required her immediate attention. "We could use someone like you at our helm."
It didn't take long for Uxtar to make up his mind. Since his arrival on this ship he had been impressed by many things and here he was being given the chance to become part of this ship and crew. "Captain it would be an honor to serve you, but I would like to make a request if at all possible."
"Go ahead Ensign," the woman said.
"During my wandering through your ship I heard about the 'VIPERS' and I would prefer to be assigned to piloting one of them instead of taking on the role of FCO. Piloting the ANUBIS would be a remarkable experience but I believe that my hunting skills and instincts would serve you better there."
"I see no reason to deny your request Ensign Uxtar," the CO said. "Of course, as a member of my crew, you would be held to the highest expectation of excellence. I will not stand for any of that nonsense aboard this ship. I do not tolerate insubordination or… hot headedness." The speech had been almost identical to the one she had given to the Nausicaan, but the expectations had been the exact same. "You will be expected to act like a professional Starfleet officer in every respect."
"Understood Captain, I will not disappoint you or betray your trust."
"Glad to hear it Ensign, and welcome to the ANUBIS."
