Nico's was still reeling from the news of his promotion. He was filled with a mixture of pride and happiness. It was a struggle to keep a huge grin from spreading across his face. He had a reputation to maintain, and it would not do for the crew to see him actually happy. As he made his way toward the armory though, his happiness began to wan, and doubt crept in.
**I am not ready for this.**, Nico thought to himself. **Look at this ship! It's mine! At least the job of keeping it secure, that is. Yebanat! What have I gotten myself into!** Not only did he have an entire ship and her crew to worry about, but his immediate task at hand was protecting the life of his new Captain, **Oh, is that all?**
He wished he had time to find and talk to Uxtar. That was another thing. Nico finally managed to make a friend in Starfleet, and now they would be going their separate ways. Maybe they would meet again someday. He also wished he had time to stop by sickbay and thank his former Captain for getting him this assignment. That would have to wait, as he approached the armory.
A single security officer, who tensed as Nico approached, guarded the armory.
"I'm sorry Sir," the Terran guard said, "only authorized personnel are allowed in this area. Please return the way you came."
**Or what?**, Nico thought to himself, with a slight grin.
What he said was, "I am Ensign Nicodemus Rostov, soon to be Chief of Security Rostov. Please take a moment to verify my clearance level, but no more than a moment, I am somewhat pressed for time."
As the guard did as he was told, Nico thought, **Chief of Security Rostov. Nice ring.**
After a moment the guard was punching in the command code to open the armory doors to allow Nico access.
"I look forward to serving under you, sir.,” the guard said as the doors opened.
"What is your name, Officer?" Nico asked.
"Garrity, Sir, Woodrow Garrity, my friends call me Woody."
"Well, Officer Garrity, I also look forward to your service." Nico said as he stepped into the armory and closed the door behind him.
"A Nausicaan Security Chief," Garrity said to himself, "Now I've seen it all."

The moment the doors closed behind him, Nico thought he died and went to Nausicaan heaven. The armory was many times bigger than he imagined, loaded with an astounding array of firepower. There were type II phasers of every configuration imaginable, along with many different configurations of pulse phaser assault rifles. He even saw some older type ballistic weapons. To his left were an array of mines and grenades. There were even some weapons that he did not recognize. Nico didn't know where to begin. He could have died a very happy man in this room. He wished Uxtar were here to see this.
First he removed his uniform shirt, and donned a lightweight polymer phase/disruptor resistant body shield, before putting his shirt back on. Next, he selected a standard Type II phaser set it to high stun and clipped it to the right side of his uniform. He added a second wrist-mounted micro-phaser that could be deployed with a flick of his left wrist. He then secured another micro-phaser to his right ankle via a hide-away holster. Lastly, he wrapped a utility belt around his waist, which was outfitted with hand restraints, two smoke grenades, two concussion grenades, two fragmentation grenades and a large Ka-bar knife. Looking down, he realized how ridiculous he looked with half the ANUBIS armory hanging from him, and removed the utility belt and all it's wonderful explosives. Instead he selected an ankle sheath and hid the Ka-bar there. Now anyone looking at him quickly would see only the Type II at his waist. He looked around one last time for anything else he might be able to use, and thought, **If I can't keep the Captain alive with what I've got now, I don't deserve this post.**
His last act, before leaving the armory was to access the ship's computer and quickly scan Dawson's file to see what he might be up against. He had no feelings one way or the other for Dawson, only that he may be a threat to his Captain. Reading the beleaguered lieutenant's file, and seeing that Dawson himself was rather imposing, Nico decided to request that the accused remain restrained during his court martial. Nico also realized that there might be some present, who are sympathetic to Dawson, and not appreciate the Captain taking such drastic action against him. He would also have to request a minimum amount of bodies be allowed into the hearing.
Nico left the armory, and made his way back to Captain Rikar's office, where he stood at attention outside her door, waiting for his new CO to emerge.
