Stardate: 60328.0315
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Draxx/Rikar's Quarters

The young woman peeked into her bedroom from the main living area of their quarters to see her daughter comfortably sleeping in their bed. Since the end of the last mission Talia had not slept in her bed or even in her room, but the child had not been the one to be blamed for this.

The redheaded woman had spent countless nights alone in that very same bed, as had her life-mate, because 1 of them had been too busy or working on some urgent matter that had prevented them from being with the other. Although this had contributed to a passing feeling of loneliness the bed had never felt completely empty... until recently. Now that she knew Enaii would not be coming back, the young woman found it extremely difficult to stay in bed, and had required the presence of her adoptive daughter by her side in order to get any semblance of sleep. Even with Talia snuggling tightly against the side of her only living parent, Sabrina could not manage more than a few consecutive hours worth of sleep... and most of them were spent dreaming of things that would never again be.

After having confirmed that Talia had still been asleep, the young woman returned to the barely lit living room, the steaming cup of hot chocolate securely cradled in her hands. As she sat on the couch Sabrina's eyes slowly drifted to the 2 flickering candles on the table in front of her... and the picture between them which seemed to dance thanks to the wavering candlelight.

The warmth of the hot chocolate seemed unable to warm the young woman's soul as she gazed at the picture and recalled when it had been taken... and how happy she had felt at that time. No amount of hot creamy beverages could begin to fill the emptiness that resided inside of her... not that the redheaded woman had wanted her pain to be so easily conquered. As a former Cns Sabrina knew that pain was part of the healing process and that she should be more concerned if she had not felt anything following the death of her wife and mother of her child.

When the cup had been emptied of its soothing mixture the young woman placed it on the table and leaned back into the couch before closing her eyes and allowing her thoughts to drift unguided. Sleep, she knew, would not be visiting her anytime soon, but that had not stopped the redheaded woman from trying to get some rest… if only to insure that she would not be brought into Sickbay from fatigue.

The moment that her eyes closed the young woman saw a mental image of the picture she had been studying for the last little while, the feelings that had been associated to that time embracing Sabrina as if time had lost its meaning and she had somehow managed to return to that place and time. The coolness of the ocean breeze caressed her flesh and sent her air fluttering as she watched Enaii run into an approaching wave only to vanish inside of it following an elegant and powerful dive. Seconds later the blonde haired woman had reappeared several meters away and invited the redheaded woman to join her.

A joyful smile formed on the young woman's pink lips as she recalled the hours which had followed the invitation, the 2 of them having enjoyed each other's playfulness while being rocked by the gentle waves which caressed the white sands of the deserted beach Enaii had brought them to. Even now, as Sabrina opened her eyes once more, the redheaded woman could hardly believe that the person she had been with then and the woman who held the position of ILO on the ANUBIS had been one and the same. It was only when they were alone, away from the madness of the universe that Enaii allowed herself to be "human".

Tears began to flow over the young woman's cheeks as the thought of her never again experiencing that side of Enaii became tangible. The truth was that Sabrina would never see that side, or any other for that fact, of the ILO regardless of whether she found it endearing or simply aggravating. The redheaded woman thought that she should have spent more time commenting on her life-mate's playful side and less on the opposing, overly demanding and strictly professions side which had them more than once on the opposite sides of an argument.

Reacting only out of pure emotion the young woman stood from the couch and made her way to the kitchen table on which her communicator had been tossed when the ANUBIS' CO had returned to her quarters. Holding the small device in her left hand, Rikar tapped it using the 2 first fingers of her other hand, opening a channel.

"Sabrina to Elan." The young woman called out knowing that the Oltharian would understand that this had been a personal call by the use of their first names instead of ranks and positions.

=/\= How may I be of assistance? =/\= The Oltharian replied, Sabrina almost hearing the giant bow as he replied. As respectful as his voice had been though, Sabrina could not help but miss the way he use to refer to her as 'Healer' when she was a CMO… that and the way he always seemed ready to cary the weight of the universe on his shoulder if she asked him to.

"I know that it is late… well actually early… but I was wondering if you could spare some time to speak with me. Of all the people onboard you were the next closest to Enaii, having known her for so long… and I just wanted to share a few memories with someone else and maybe have them share something back with me… something that I might not have known." The young woman explained, realizing only after she had spoken that the request had been almost childish, but before Sabrina could reconsider her request, the Oltharian offered a reply.

=/\= It will be my pleasure to assist… I will be there in a few minutes. Elan out. =/\= The Oltharian replied, his using his first name at the end clearly indicating to the young woman that he would be coming as a friend and not as a member of the ANUBIS' crew, something that she greatly appreciated.
