Setting: USS HATHOR, Corridor
Rushing from the ANUBIS to the HATHOR had made Ens.
Mei even more aware of the size difference between the
inside of the two ships. Both working under the
banner of Intel, one would have expected the two ships
to be more similar than dissimilar, but their had been
no commonality other than they being Starfleet ships
as far as the Cns could see.
Comparing the HATHOR's layout to the majority of
other ships she had seen, the Cns felt a growing
anxiety as if the walls were closing in on her from
all sides. Knowing that the walls had not, and could
not, move of their own accord made Ens. Mei dismiss
the feeling as having been nothing more than
stress-related. Speaking to the Romulan/Terran hybrid
about the surprise party for Lea had apparently made
Susan more nervous than she had expected.
Focussing on her goal and imagining how the four
largest members of the crew would deal with the
HATHOR's narrow corridors and low ceilings, the Cns
pressed on reassuring herself that everything would be
fine.

Stepping onto the bridge Ens. Mei found the
Romulan/Terran hybrid exactly where she had suspected
her to be, sitting in the Captain's chair. As complex
as the psyche of the hybrid might have been documented
to be it had been nice to see that under the cold
façade and harsh demeanor the HATHOR's CO had been
predictable, at least to a certain extent.
Turning her chair around to be able to face the Cns,
the Romulan/Terran hybrid sat there looking at the
ensign without saying a single word. Responding to
the look she had been the target of, Ens. Mei tried
her best to fight off the growing feeling of
nervousness mounting in her. Having done nothing
wrong there had been no reason for Susan to feel this
way, yet being on the receiving end of the hybrid's
gaze had provoked and unwilling reaction beyond the
control of the ANUBIS' Cns.
Relaxing her posture ever so slightly, the
Romulan/Terran hybrid reached for the small control
panel on the armrest of her chair and called up some
information which the HATHOR's CO relayed to the
unsuspecting Cns standing a few feet away. "So you
are planning a surprise party for Lt. Summers and have
already spoken to other members of the senior staff
about this and I suspect that you are now here to see
if I would be in favor of this activity."
Never having expected to be put on the defensive in
such a way, Ens. Mei found herself unable to confirm
or deny the allegations made by the Romulan/Terran
hybrid, not that she had wanted to refute them as it
had been the plain and simple truth. Trying not to
let her feelings get the best of her, the Cns stood
her ground and finally nodded her head confirming what
the HATHOR's CO had suspected.
Spinning her chair back to face the forward section
of the small command deck, the Romulan/Terran hybrid
said nothing for a few seconds before breaking the
stillness that had taken over the Bridge. "You have
my permission to carry out your plan, not that you
truly needed it as this does not fall under my
jurisdiction. Had you wished to hold this on the
HATHOR instead of the ANUBIS, then I would have had
ground to refuse, but I still would not have as I
believe that this will be something good. Therefore,
you can add me to your list and I will be in Sickbay
at 1930."
Not having anything else to say, not that she had
said all that much since her arrival, the Cns decided
on a speedy retreat thinking that at some point during
or after the mission she would have to ask the
Romulan/Terran hybrid as to how she had come to know
about the details of the party. Having only spoken of
this to Capt. Rikar and Ens. Kea up to that point had
made it nearly impossible for the HATHOR's CO to have
heard of it from either one of them.
Waiting for the Cns to step through the opened
doorway leading out of the Bridge the Romulan/Terran
hybrid clarified the situation as much as she cared to
for the time being. "Ens. Mei, please do not be
alarmed by my foreknowledge of your activities, I
would be a poor CO if I did not keep track of the
status of my crew and be an even poorer daughter of a
*Romulan* if I did not play the Intel game to the best
of my abilities."
Grinning the Cns exited the Bridge leaving the
Romulan/Terran hybrid to her solitude and eccentric
ways for the time being, giving the HATHOR's CO the
opportunity to think of another officer, an Intel
Agent who excelled in her field of work and who, in
many ways, had been a source of both great inspiration
and loathing on the part of Serenna, feelings which
continued even after the woman's passing.
