To say that Lea had been livid would have been an understatement. Susan had to run in order to catch up to the enraged CMO, but once she was there the Cns kept her distances. Never before had Susan seen her friend in such a state, and she suspected that there had been another reason to explain it.
"Lea, David only wants what is best," the Cns said to the fuming CMO.
"Taking risks now could mean saving lives later," Susan added as she
put her hand on Lea's shoulder. Abruptly Lea pulled her shoulder away, a
gesture which stunned Susan. "Lea?"
"Susan, thanks for everything but I have things to do," the CMO said as
she walked away. "I have to get Sickbay ready in case David was wrong."
Stunned and speechless Susan could only watch as her friend walked
away. Although she had not seen Lea's face, the Cns had almost been sure
that the CMO had been crying. Why Susan had no idea but it was clear
that Lea had not wanted to share the reason with anyone. At least not
right there and then.

Susan returned to the bridge and headed for the Hirogen at the Tactical
station. "How is she?" Uxtar asked, visibly concerned for the woman
who had sided with him earlier.
"She's in Sickbay, getting ready," Susan said while she looked up at
the FCO for a brief moment. Not only had the Cns been on the job with
Derek, but now she had to also figure out what had been troubling her friend.
"Getting ready?" Uxtar repeated. "Hopefully this will have been
premature and unnecessary," the Hirogen added glaring quickly at David. The
ExO had been too busy with his scans of the probe to see what Uxtar had
done. This had been a small relief for Susan who had not wanted this
to escalade more than it had already done.
"We will be in position to intercept the probe in five minutes," Derek
said. Thanks to the speed and manoeuvrability of the HATHOR getting
around the probe had been an easy task. Of course his own piloting
skills had not hindered the process either. It had not taken Ens. Stormwind
all that long to become an expert with the HATHOR's flight systems.
"Main deflector charged are ready," David added, Carft and him having
completed their task. There had been no time to test it though, so both
men had been a little on edge as the HATHOR approached the probe.
"All weapons are ready," Uxtar confirmed. The Hirogen had appreciated
that the CO had decided to play things cautiously but Susan cold see in
Uxtar's eyes that he had been wanting to fire. That problem had simply
been too much of an unknown for the Sec/Tac officer to be left
functioning.
"All right, nice and easy. Helm bring us in, Number One, stand-by,"
Serenna said, sitting on the edge of her seat.

Lea had dried her tears and kept herself busy. She had this feeling in
the pit of her stomach that something was going to happen. The CMO
could neither say what or to whom, but she knew. Lea desperately tried to
dismiss the feeling, telling herself that she was being paranoid.
David's plan had been the right one. If it worked, they could possibly
find a way to stop the Imperians before more lives were lost.
The CMO had been on the verge of having convinced herself when the
HATHOR violently rocked. Like a pinball caught in the bumpers, Lea bounced
off one wall into the other and back to the first. She had just
regained her wits when Lea heard the voice of the CO over the intercom. =/\=
Bridge to Doctor Summers. Medical Emergency! =/\=
Ignoring the lumps on her head and the feeling of a warm liquid
trickling down her neck Lea grabbed a med-kit and rushed out. This could not
have happened; her feelings had to have been wrong. Lea was no
Betazoid or seer, so this had to have been a mistake. If so, what had
happened on the bridge to have their CO call the CMO as she had done?
