Setting: USS HATHOR, Bridge
There was no doubt about it, everyone onboard the HATHOR had been happy
to get back to the grindstone. Sitting still under the protection of
the ANUBIS' sensor blockage field had just not been what Uxtar and the
others had wanted to be doing.
"Helm, set intercept course, maximum warp," the CO ordered even before
Derek had made it to his seat.
"Bringing all weapons to full ready status Captain," Uxtar said
anticipating what Serenna would likely say next.
"Good," the CO acknowledge while heading for the central chair.
"Coordinate with Lt. Dawson as to the best possible, and safest,
deployment of another energy pulse. Use whatever data Lt. Cmdr. Maya
was able to obtain to help give us an extra edge."
Uxtar nodded his understanding and followed the First Officer off the
bridge, David apparently wanting to be in the more familiar
surroundings
of Main Engineering instead of the bridge.

With a ship as small as the HATHOR it had been nearly impossible to not
run into someone the moment you stepped into the corridors. In this
case the Sec/Tac and CEO had encountered the CMO and Cns during their
short trip down to the ship's Engineering Section.
Immediately Lea turned to David and pulled him aside leaving Uxtar and
Susan face to face. The Hirogen smiled and leaned in closer to the
shorter woman, "Welcome back counselor, glad to have you with us."
Ens. Mei looked up at Uxtar unsure as to what to say in response. How
much, if anything did the Hirogen know about what had really happened?
In an attempt to not cause any problem for Lea, the Cns smiled and
thanked the Sec/Tac for his kind words with a nod of her head.
"Uxtar! Are you coming?" David called out from several feet down the
corridor. As short as the Hirogen's conversation with the Cns had
been, it had been long enough for him to miss noticing that the CEO had
finished speaking with the CMO and had resumed his course to Main
Engineering.
"Don't worry," the Hirogen said as he slid past Susan. "I won't let
anything happen to you or anyone else on this ship."
As she watched the Hunter catch up to Dawson, Susan again wondered just
how much Uxtar had known and if that had been the reason for his last
words to her.

David went to work the second he walked into the room, calling up the
data on when they had faced the probe last.
"We need to disable those things a lot earlier than we did the last
time," the CEO said already working on a way to increase the range of
the main deflector and energy pulse.
"Because of the reflective properties of the ships' outer hull, weapons
are useless at long-range as sensors are unable to get a lock," Uxtar
pointed out. As much as the relatively slow speed of the Imperians had
made them easier targets, the properties of their ships had countered
this advantage forcing the HATHOR and its crew to deal with them on a
close-range basis.
"Agreed," David nodded. "The key will be for us to avoid the reflected
energy wave. The last thing we need is to end up like we did the last
time around.
"I am sure that Derek will have something ready to help in that
regard," Uxtar said thinking that his friend at the helm had likely been itchy
for some fancy flying.
"I will try to narrow the beam so that we can do a fly by," the CEO
said while continuing to work on recalibrating the main deflector. "Since
they have learned our tactics from the Cardassians, it's time for us to
rewrite the book."
"We will have to destroy both IMPs as soon as possible so as to not
give them the chance to launch a counter offensive against us," Uxtar said
stopping the CEO dead in what he had been doing.
"IMPs?" He asked glaring quizzically at the Hirogen.
"Yes," the Sec/Tac nodded, "I-M-P which stands for Imperian Manned Probe."
David thought about this for a moment and shrugged. "Guess it is more
accurate than just calling those things *probes*, I just hope they
don't end up proving themselves to be as *annoying* as their namesake."
"With a ship such as the HATHOR, and the crew that is on it, what could
go wrong?" Uxtar said with a confidence that seemed unshakable.
"To be an Ensign and naïve," David muttered to himself while continuing
to work on the main deflector. "Actually, I hope that you are right,"
the CEO added, this time speaking loud enough for the Hirogen to hear
him. "I think we could all do with a few less *surprises* right at the
moment."
