The young woman paced nervously around the bridge obviously unable to
remain still… the ANUBIS' ExO, Lt. Cmdr. Maya had been in the Astrophysics'
lab working on the dynamics of getting Enaii back in one piece while the
ship's CEO, the towering Oltharian named Elan Fairborn had resumed working on
getting the vessel back to its full working potential. In the meantime
Doctor Halliwell had enjoyed the serenity of her once again vacant
Sickbay, permitting her to research the potential physical impact on the ILO of the process they would be using while in orbit of SURIAL III. All of the
files contained within the archives of Starfleet Medical had been made
available to the aCMO, but so far she had found little to help her with anything that might or might not happen. This had left the redheaded woman to share the bridge of her vessel with only two members of the senior staff… the
ship's Avatar and the acting Sec/Tac who only a few days ago had been better
known as Marine 1st Lt. Pravat.
"Is there anything that I can do for you Captain?" The Enaran ever so
respectfully inquired as the CO rounded the Tactical station for the
Nth time. Thanks to his dealings with the long-winded Shillian, Prav had
learned to increase his patience, but the aimless wonderings of the
redheaded woman had slowly proven to be more annoying than anything the
CSciO could have said.
Rikar stopped for an instant and looked at the Enaran, a gentle smile
gracing her pink lips. The young woman had just been ready to thank
her Chief of Security for his kindness when she realised that the words had
not been spoken as such… but rather out of annoyance. Normally the young
woman would have been insulted by this, but after remembering that she had
toured the bridge more times than she could count, the CO chuckled.
"Maybe confining me to quarters would be an idea," the CO offered
playfully half expecting the Enaran to respond with a laugh, smile or at least
some external display of amusement… how ever small it might have been.
Instead Prav just looked at the captain and blinked a few times before
commenting.
"That would be a court-martial offence, Sir… unless you acted in a way
which would force your ExO to claim you unfit for duty. It would be only
then that I would do as you have suggestion, but I can assure you that I
would not draw any pleasure out of it," the Sec/Tac Officer explained in such
a way that the redheaded woman found herself speechless.
"Long-range sensors have picked up the HATHOR… she is at a dead stop,"
Annie announced which caused the young woman to rush back to her seat and the
Enaran Sec/Tac to prep the ship for the worst case scenario.
"Are there any other ship near them?" Rikar inquired as she slid into
her seat before leaning forward to be that much closer to the ANUBIS'
Avatar.
"Negative… sensors are only picking up the HATHOR, but according to the
telemetry we received from them they should have already encountered
the two Imperian probes," the ship's humanoid representation offered not at all sounding concerned.
"If the HATHOR is not moving, they may have suffered damage from their
encounter with the other two probes," Pravat theorized, his tone of
voice hinting that he had been ready to see the ANUBIS rush in to their aid
even if they had no idea as to what had really happened.
"Ship's systems are reading nominal," Annie interjected, pointing out
by the same token that the ANUBIS' sensors had been restored to nearly full
power.
Had the two ships been inside Federation space, there would not have
been any debate as to what had needed to be done… to contact the ship and
ask for a status report, unfortunately they were deep inside Cardassian space. If it had only been the Cardassians that she had been worried about, the young woman might have taken the risk but with the presence of the Imperians nearby and their inability to detect them, the ANUBIS's CO had been
left with very little choices.
"We will have to trust that Lt. Cmdr. Serenna and the rest of the
HATHOR's crew are capable of taking care of themselves… until we get more than
what we currently have… we continue on course for SURIAL III. *We* have a
mission to accomplish and this is only making things harder on us all,"
the CO stated as she left her chair and made her way to the turbolift
effectively putting an end to this debate and insuring that no
challenge to her order could be made by the ship's Sec/Tac Officer.
