As Liz just agreed to go check up on the captain so she had to put away
all her things to keep Sickbay clean and tidy. This was her first
Sickbay and the aCMO was going to keep it as clean as possible. The last
thing Liz needed was to have Lea drop down on her for having messed up
*her* Sickbay. After having cleaned up which took a whole 2 minutes Liz
headed to leave Sickbay.
At the door the aCMO stopped and looked back, contemplating her
department and its pristine condition. For a moment Docotr Halliwell actually
missed having people to take care of. That was her duty onboard the
ANUBIS, but the empty Sickbay did positively reflect on their mission.
So far.
--
The Doctor who was asked to check upon the CO of the USS ANUBIS was
kind of worried about offending the captain in any way. She felt like
just a little kid going to see the head teacher, which in this situation
was the captain of the ship she served on.
"Don't mess up. Don't mess up." Elizabeth kept repeating over and over
as she walked through the corridor. Liz had been so caught up in her
own affairs that she had not noticed the glares sent her way. Those
crewmembers Liz had passed by while speaking to herself had looked upon
the aCMO as if she had been crazy. Some even went as far as to think
that having sent Ens. Mei back to the HATHOR had been a mistake.
Apparently there had been someone onboard the ANUBIS who had required her
services.
--
After Halliwell entered the Black Hole Lounge she looked around
carefully searching for Captain Rikar. Liz spotted the table where the
captain was sitting, the CO with her hands in her hair. From a distance it
looked like Sabrina had been deep in thoughts. The aCMO took a deep
breath and stepped towards the captain still quietly repeating, "Don't
mess up. Don't mess up."
"Good afternoon Ensign," Rikar said looking up when she noticed Liz
standing beside her.
"Good afternoon Captain," the Ensign responded trying to sound as
polite as possible like she always had to be to her head teacher.
"At ease Ensign," the Captain sighed staring over her cup of coffee.
"How are you, if I may ask?" Liz asked starting to feel sweat as much
she was frightened that the Captain would be angry at her for asking
such a questions.
"I'm fine, yes fine," Sabrina responded, quickly adding a smile
afterwards.
Doctor Halliwell noticed instantly that the smile was fake. Apparently
the time Liz had spend around Susan had rubbed off in some way.
"Permission to speak freely Captain?" The Doctor carefully asked.
"Go ahead Ensign," Rikar answered with a tired sigh in her voice.
Sabrina knew what was about to come and she did not have the heart to stop
it.
"Well, if I may say so it's not very smart to keep feelings which you
want to let out, it just makes you worry more and more," Elizabeth
Halliwell said sounding as a wannabe counselor.
"You may be right with that one Ensign," Rikar chuckled stirring in her
cup of coffee with a spoon trying to be distracted from her reality.
Before Liz could respond to that Rikar added, "Maya send you didn't
she?"
"Well, uh I'm not exactly allowed to lie so, yes, Lieutenant Commander
Maya send me to check upon you," The Doctor let out knowing that she
could not lie to anyone of a higher rank nor someone of a lower rank. In
short Liz was, as she had always been, a lousy liar, and she knew it.
"Well, if I could ask you a favor," the CO asked quietly taking a sip
of her coffee.
"Of course Captain," Halliwell answered in as a friendly tone as she
could.
"Could you tell Maya that I appreciate her concerns and tell her I feel
fine and I'm just a bit tired," Rikar told Liz.
"I'll deliver your message to Maya," Doctor Halliwell said with a
bright smile.
"Thank you, Ensign," Captain Rikar said sounding thankful which pleased
Doctor Haliwell. With her task completed the aCMO nodded and left the
Black Hole Lounge, or at least tried to. As Liz reached the door she
glanced back at Sabrina and noticed her looking out of the large
windows. The stars had moved sideways indicating that the ship had changed
course. This made the CO reach for her comm badge and call someone.
From where she stood Liz could not hear the conversation. What she did
know though was that Sabrina had been upset about whatever answer she
had received. Within a few seconds, the CO had left her table and
stormed out of the lounge, almost knocking Liz off her feet.
Someone had done something wrong, and they were about to get it.
