Setting: USS HATHOR, Bridge
Looking over the bridge of her ship, the
Romulan/Terran hybrid could tell that things had not
been going well as more systems of the HATHOR became
inoperative, giving an indication as to the methods
used by the Imperians when attacking an enemy ship.
Destroying any and all life had apparently not been
enough for the robotic menaces, their tactics having
also included to systematically shutting down each and
every support tool at the disposal of their
adversaries.
Scanning the room the CO could see an expression of
concern on the face of Ens. Mei who had remained on
the bridge while the ship's CMO and her friend had
gone to the deck below, while such a move had still
been possible. Meeting the gaze of the Romulan/Terran
hybrid, the CNS forced a smile to appear on her face
trying to display as much of an optimistic aura as the
woman could fake. Appreciating the gesture, the
hybrid returned the Ensign smile thinking that maybe
it would have been better for Susan to have remained
on the ANUBIS as Doctor Summers had wanted her to.
Turning towards her XO, the CO kept any and all
comments to herself seeing that the CEO had been busy
with more than any single man could be asked to
accomplished in the time they had left. Having
nothing else to do, the Romulan/Terran hybrid returned
to her seat and gazed onto the flickering screen set
at the front of the bridge. Having knocked out
internal communications had effectively made it
impossible for the CO to know what had been happening
to her ship and crew.
David had been working hard trying to restore either
the transporter systems to enable a site-to-site
transport but so far the computer had been less than
cooperating. Working to restore the turbolift system
or remove the security bulkheads that had rendered the
Jefferies tubes unusable had also proven to be an
impossible task. Attempting to circumvent the
thoroughness of the Imperians, who had displayed an
uncanny knowledge on how to disable Federation
technology, had proven to be an uphill battle which
they were seemingly losing at this time.
Staring at the static filled screen in front of her,
the Romulan/Terran hybrid wondered what else she could
other than stay out of her XO's way. Watching
helplessly has *her* ship fell under the control of
the Imperians had not been the hybrid's idea of being
proactive, making the CO feel as if she had in some
way failed her crew.
Narrowing her eyes at the sight of a large, dark mass
having appeared on the screen, the Romulan/Terran
hybrid tried her best to look beyond the static and
distortion to see if what she had thought she had seen
had in fact been real. Wishing for something to be
had never been enough to make it happen, that much the
CO knew, so she had withheld any hopes until she could
either confirm or deny the accuracy of what she had seen.
Piecing the puzzle bit by bit, the Romulan/Terran
hybrid grew increasingly confident that the large dark
coloured mass that had appeared on the main view
screen had been the silhouette of the USS ANUBIS.
Communicating with the other ship had still been
impossible but the CO knew that if the other ship had
been in visual range, teams from it had likely already
beamed onboard and joined the fight against the Imperians.
Not feeling all that relieved by the discovery
though, the Romulan/Terran hybrid could only curse
under her breath for not having been able to join in
the efforts to save her ship and its crew, instead
having to rely on the ANUBIS' Marines and the
long-shot possibility that they had brought along
weapons that would prove to be more effective against
the mechanical invaders.
Placing her hand on the CO's shoulder, the CNS
wordlessly conveyed support and a brighter outlook for
their future displaying a confidence in that with the
arrival of the ANUBIS their situation could only
improve.
