#091 - USS ANUBIS: Rikar: Day 3 - 2100 ("Memories")

"Memories"

Stardate: 60341.2100
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge

The young woman sat in the chair at the centre of the command *pit*, the rear of the USS HATHOR clearly displayed on the main view screen as the two ship made a beeline for their intended destination. Thanks to the combined efforts the 2 ship's CEOs the HATHOR had been restored to full operating status in less than an hour allowing them to resume their course for the mission's primary objective… SURIAL III and Enaii, the 2 having become one and the same for the time being.

"Long-range sensors are not picking up anything in our path… either the Imperians are letting us get there unchallenged or they have found a way to hide their ion trails," Marine 1st Lt. Pravat announced from the tactical station, the Enaran having been dismissed from Sickbay not all that long ago. Although the dedicated warrior of the Federation had resumed his post and duties on the bridge, Pravat had not been able to keep his thoughts on the here and now, his mind repeatedly being invaded by memories of his time in the ANUBIS' Sickbay and the visit of that ship's acting ExO.

Every so often the Marine would glance over his shoulder behind him towards the science station and catch a glimpse of the woman who haunted his thoughts. Each time it looked like the Shillian would catch the unannounced gesture the Enaran quickly returned his eyes onto his station without saying a word, thankful that the scientist had elected to be at her station instead of that of the Executive Officer. Although this would have meant that Maya would have been closer to him, it would have also made it almost impossible for the Marine CO to concentrate on his duties… something that he had already a hard time doing.

At the Engineering station, the Oltharian also appeared lost in thoughts recalling his discussion with the HATHOR's ExO/CEO. The 2 kindred souls had shared a great many things while effecting repairs on the systems of the smaller vessel which had led the giant to think back to the people he had left behind on his home world of OLTHAR PRIME. The casualties suffered during the last dealing with the Imperians had left many scars, and the process of healing them had in turn affected those who had not even taken part in the conflict. It was clear to see that Ens. Mei would have her hands full once the 2 ships would return to their base of operation… if they ever made it back at all.

Aside from the Enaran Marine and Hirogen Sec/Tac officer, the other members of the divided crew who had been most affected by what had taken place onboard the USS HATHOR had been the medical officers. Lt. JG Summers, the ANUBIS' CMO having been there for the greater part of the confrontation had found it hard to let go of some of the more disturbing images she had come across. Although many lives had been saved thanks to the emergency beam out of the HATHOR's wounded, many had either perished beforehand or had suffered too extensive of injuries to be saved even by the state-of-the-art equipment found onboard the SCARAB-Class vessel.

According to the report the young woman had earlier received from the HATHOR's CO, several members of the hybrid's crew had displayed distinct signs of heightened stress and emotional fatigue which the half Human, half Romulan woman had associated with the overwhelming feeling that the Imperian threat had cast over them.

Based on what the HATHOR's CO had said, and using her expertise as a former Cns, the young woman tried her best to gage the state of the crew of the ship which appeared on the ANUBIS' main view screen. The CEO, Ops and FCO, along with the rest of the crew had displayed, if only in passing, signs which had been all too easily picked up by the hybrid and relayed to the redheaded woman.

Serenna had noted a more sombre demeanour in her ExO, Lt. Dawson who had officially stated that everything had been alright when he had been confronted by his CO as to his emotional and psychological state. The same denial had been offered by both Ens. Stormwind and Ens. Kea, the 2 men claiming to be fit for duty although admitting that they did have some difficulties with dealing with what they had seen.

Ens. Halliwell had also found this extremely difficult to assimilate all that had transpired since this had been her first time dealing with such a situation and so many bodies being brought to be under her care in so short of a period of time. Although extensive the training she had received at the Academy had failed to properly prepare the aCMO for the emotional trauma that she had been plunged in the midst of when the wounded had begun to appear all around her.

Everyone onboard both ships seemed enthralled in thoughts and memories, and the young woman in command of the ANUBIS had not escaped this… her thoughts drifting from the future to the past and back… to a world which rested in a time yet to pass and which held the key to unlocking the happiness that the redheaded woman had experienced in that days that had already been engraved in time.
