The young woman sat in the central chair... an expression of deep
thought engraved on her features. With the departure of the ANUBIS less than
an hour away there had been a great many things to do and very little time
to do it all in… but that had never been a problem for the talented crew
of this ship who had proven time and time again that they could accomplish
miracles under the most gruelling of circumstances. From the CO's
chair the redheaded woman watched with interest as each member of the bridge
staff went about their duties without the need of being supervised… even the
new Ensigns came across as people who had done this a million times before
and could do so again with their eyes closed.
At the back of the bridge Rikar had observed the CEO supervising the
last minute work of his department which involved the transfer of equipment
and supplies. David had opted to send Ens. Mattias down to personally
supervise this while Dawson kept an eye on him and the other members of the
Engineering staff. Next to the Engineer the CSciO had been busy with
final reviews of the IRRAJ System, the planet's ecological layout as well as
any other detail that the Shillian thought might prove to be useful during
their mission. The young woman knew that the amount of data which had been
collected by Maya had already surpassed all requirements but that the
scientist had continued to be busy had left the bridge in an atmosphere
of enjoyable quietness.
At the front of the Bridge the FCO had been equally busy as he worked
on the ANUBIS' flight plan. Although IRRAJ had been well within the
boundaries of Federation space Commodore Simmons had strongly recommended that the ship take a more stealthy approach to the system so as to not make too much of a show of their arrival despite their cover story.
At the tactical station Uxtar and Pravat both seemed quite involved in
the evaluation of any and all threats that the ANUBIS might encounter along
the way. The crew's cover story had been to protect the Princess from a
possible kidnapping threat but the real reason for the ANUBIS' presence
had been to evaluate the possibility that IRRAJ had been compromised by an
adversary force such as the Romulans, the Cardassian or some other
unknown power which might eventually prove harmful to the way of life of
Federation citizens.
"Doctor Summers has contacted us *again*… she is still waiting for
someone to go and fix Biobed 3. According to our CMO the scanners on that unit say that there is a hole in the middle of the bed," the ExO announced from her station located immediately behind the CO's seat.
"Mr. Dawson?" the redheaded woman teased as she glanced back to the CEO.
"First it's not my fault… I told her not to play with the scanners but
she insisted that they needed to be made more sensitive. I will send Ens.
Norheim to have a look at it… that is as soon as all of the transfers
from NEW ALEXANDRIA are completed," the towering CEO replied with a half
grin as he imagined the blond-haired trying to do something that she should
never have attempted.
"Just make sure that it's fixed before we get under way… I would hate
to have to charge her with assault against a superior officer if she ever
got her hands on you," the young woman offered clearly in a kidding
fashion. Not only had the idea of someone as small as the CMO attacking someone as large as the CEO been ridiculous, but the suggestion that Doctor
Summers would be in any way able to do any type of harm to Dawson had been
laughable. In addition to the major size difference between the two
officers, the relationship the two of them were in the midst of made
the suggested possibility even less likely.
With that problem dealt with the young woman turned her attention to
the stations on the Bridge which were at the moment still unmanned. The
first and most noticeable had been that of the Ops officer which had been
slated to be filled by none other than the ANUBIS' avatar Annie. After her
invaluable assistance with the rescue of Lt. Cmdr. Enaii, the robotic
woman had been left with a great many problems which the NEW ALEXANDRIA's
resident Robotics Expert had been tirelessly attempting to solve. Lt. Fairborn had promised that Annie would be able to take the place that had been
assigned to her but the redheaded woman had begun to worry that despite his
seemingly endless skills and abilities the Oltharian would not be able to get the Avatar working again.
The other vacant station had been that of the ILO… an absence that the
CO felt both in a professional and personal manner. Even when Enaii
worked from the IGC her holographic image could be seen manning the Bridge's
station but at the moment the only proof Rikar had of the woman's
presence onboard had been her ExO's report that the ILO had indeed reported for duty earlier that morning.
"You have to be patient… it will take time for her to sort out all that
she has experienced. It is not everyday that someone gets to spend that
much time as a disembodied entity and be able to live to tell about it,"
Ens. Mei quietly offered to the sitting CO having easily recognized the signed
of deep felt concern that had appeared on the features of the redheaded woman.
"I just wish she would actually *say* something… she hasn't spoken to
me, Talia or anyone else to my knowledge since she was dismissed from the
Infirmary. There were times when even the base's internal sensors were
unable to locate her which scared the daylight out of me," the young
woman admitted as she allowed her personal emotions to surface for a brief
moment. Despite the fact that Enaii had been her life-mate Rikar's first
priority had been to her ship and its crew… all of them… and this meant that the situation with Enaii had to be placed as a secondary priority.
"I will try to speak with her… maybe she will feel more comfortable around someone whom she doesn't really know," the Cns offered almost immediately regretting having proposed the course of action. Of all the people onboard the ANUBIS the ILO held the most mystery around her and through that made any attempts to getting closer to her that much more difficult if not impossible.
"Thank you… but I'll take care of it," the redheaded woman quickly
countered with which made Ens. Mei almost thanks the CO for her thoughtfulness.
"Computer… locate Lt. Cmdr. Enaii," the CO inquired of the ship's
computer as she stood from her chair.
=/\= Lt. Cmdr. Enaii is in the Robotics Lab, =/\= the computer replied
which made everyone on the Bridge stop for a brief moment what they had been
doing.
"Serenna… you have the Bridge," Rikar stated as she made her way to the
back of the room and boarded the turbolift under the concerned eyes of those
senior officers present in the room.
