"Trouble is not the word"

Stardate: 61014.2320
Setting: USS DRAGONSEYE

Susan sat quietly and looked at the man in the pilot's seat while he worked the controls. She felt, as she had for the past few months, confused. Not about the human/vulcan but about herself... and her feelings for him. She had no idea where they'd come from and, as a trained psychologist, she doubted whether they really were feelings or just a side effect of the mind meld...

That in and of itself was a mystery to her. She remebered sitting in front of the candle in his quarters, she remembered entering a room full of books which he told her was one of many. She remembered that he had been married before. That the books represented that side of him. His vulcan side. She remembered walking along a corridor and coming to a large metal door. She even remembered agreeing to go inside... but then she remembered waking up, as if from a deep sleep, in front of the candle again.

She was certain that she had gone into the room. She could *feel* that there was something missing from her memory. Something important? What had she seen? And more importantly *why* couldn't she remember it? She was brought out of this silent reverie by the FCO's voice "DRAGONSEYE to USS ANUBIS. This is an Emergency Alert signal…"

Pravat's voice responded within a few seconds, a slight trace of irritation in it that only a counselor would be able to pick up "Reading you loud and clear, ensign. What's happened?"

As Derek explained, Susan let her eyes wonder to the viewport next to her. They seemed to be in some kind of market place. Although it was mostly dark at this hour of the night, Susan saw a few lights quite close by. She squinted, trying to work out what the belonged to. A ship? A house?

"I have beamed myself and Ensign Mei," Derek ended abruptly then the horrible sound of static.

Susan spun in her chair to look at the FCO... her eyes grew wide and her mouth dropped open.

"Bravo." Said the man standing beside Ensign Stormwind, "Bravo. That was a really ingeneous escape." Susan's eyes followed the man's outstretched arm and saw that he was holding some sort of phaser to Derek's head, "But, unlike the naive people of the palace, your tricks won't work on me."

"I was quite surprised," he continues, obviously enjoying the sound of his own voice, "I was quite surprised when you and your "owner" did not return to guarding your wares after our meeting. I was even more surprised when you took off being persued by the palace guards," he grinned, "yet I knew you'd return here eventually".

"So you lay in wait?" Derek asked, "How did you make it past the securit..."

The man ignored his question and turned to Susan, "It seems that you are more than a simple trader my friend." Susan noticed that he was scrutinising at her insignia, "Which is good because I am more than a simple merchant."
