"Some Things Never Change"

Setting: IRRAJ, Royal Palace, Underground Dungeon
Stardate: 61015.0130

Lea was scared, nay terrified. The Irrajian guard who had opened the door to her cell had not been all that impressive looking. The guard must have stood no more than 5'2", maybe 5'3". Despite the lack of height though the CMO had immediately felt intimidated. There just had been *something * about that guard that told others to beware. Maybe even fear this person even if you did not know them.

The guard had said nothing. The poor lighting had made it impossible for Lea to see any detail of the Irrajian. Maybe that had help in fuelling the aura of mystery that hung around the individual. When the CMO was ordered to step out, Lea had not dared to refuse. The commanding way that single digit had prompted her to move had chilled the CMO's soul. There had been something *final* about the way the gesture had been made. Lea doubted that anything could have scared her more. An enraged Klingon swinging one of their killer blades would not have had the same effect on the CMO.

The CMO had shot a quick glance in Maya's direction thankful that the CSciO had still been sleeping. Maya needed to rest, not to worry about what unspeakable horror Lea would be made to face. It was only after the CMO had stepped out of the cell that she realised what she had done. As bad as the cell had been, it had been a safe place. Lea's fate now rested in the hands of this unknown guard who frankly scared the CMO to no end.

As Lea was escorted down the gloom corridor she met Uxtar's eyes briefly. For a moment the CMO wondered if the sec/Tac and CEO would break the door down and rush to her rescue. Part of Lea had wished this to happen, but another found comfort in knowing that Uxtar and David would remain safe.

Lea glanced over her shoulder and saw nothing but the shadowy outline of the guard which followed. As much as the CMO had wanted to imagine the Sec/Tac and CEO winning the fight, Lea instead pictured the opposite occurring. Lea did not know why, but the feeling had been just too powerful. Whoever that short guard was, all needed to fear him or her.

Around one corner and through another door, Lea arrived in hell. At least what any self-respecting Doctor would consider being hell. The room was filled with odd looking instruments, each appearing more menacing then the previous. Some of these instruments might have been thought to be tools of some sort. For the others though, there had been no doubt as to their intended purpose. These were instruments of torture and Lea had been brought here without as much as an objection.

Lea turned and prepared to face of would be torturer. The CMO doubted that she would have even the slightest chance to avoid the outcome, but at least she would try. Lea had been ready to swing at the shadow clad figure when the CMO stopped dead in her tracks. Lea notice in the corner of the room the broken body of what appeared to be an Irrajian man. Actually broken had been a severe understatement. The man appeared to have appendages sticking out from locations that did not exist on a normal humanoid body. The way the head hung over the man's shoulder had made it clear that any attempt to reanimate would be pointless. Lea swallowed long and hard as she pictured the guard who had brought her here doing something similar to her. Whatever fight had been in the CMO vanished instantly. If this was to be her fate, then so be it, at least Lea would not offer any sort of spectacle. She was a Starfleet Officer after all and that would be the last thing she would cling to.

The CMO closed her eyes and waited for her fate to be dealt. All that Lea could hope for was that her end be dealt quickly or that someone would find a way to find her before it would be too late.

"David, I'm sorry," Lea whispered softly. She could only guess as to how the CEO would take the news of her death. "Maya, be well," the CMO continued. Even when faced with her own end, Lea's thought were on her patient. "Susan, I'll miss you," Lea whispered about her friend. The Cns and CMO had developed a unique friendship, one that she would greatly miss. One by one Lea whispered the names of the members of the senior staff until only one remained. "Enaii, now would be a good time for one of those miracles."

"Doctor," Enaii said as she stepped out of the shadows as if commanding the very light around her.

Lea almost fainted as she came to realise that her torturer had been none other than the ANUBIS' own ILO. Had she not feared the person more now then ever, the CMO would have likely slapped Enaii for what she had done. Instead Lea found comfort in that her life would not come to an end. At least not at that very moment.
