Thanks to the open emergency hatch the officers on the bridge had been able to get around with a little more ease, the light of the sun having dispersed the complete darkness that they crew had been plunged into. While Captain Rikar and Lieutenant Uxtar made contact with the indigenous life forms of CABRY III the Shillian woman and the rest of the senior staff located on the bridge tried to find a solution to their *power* issue.
"There is no use," Ensign Thomas said with discouragement after having repeatedly tried to gain access to the systems of the ANUBIS through several of the stations around the bridge. "Nothing is working, not even my tricorder. It is as if something drained every nanowatt of power from *everything*."
"To drain the energy from a power cell is one thing," Ensign Norheim, the Chief Engineering Officer of the ANUBIS pointed out, "but to be able to stop a matter/antimatter reaction is an entirely different issue. What we experienced back up there was a complete power shutdown initiated by something outside of the ship."
"We will have to identify and locate the source of this power drain if we are to get off this planet," the Vulcan Flight Control Officer logically pointed out making the task that laid before them seem almost easy.
"Our first priority should be to locate every member of the crew," the Shillian scientist said feeling overwhelmed by the daunting task that she had just stated, which had been why the Chief Science Officer had been so atypically short-winded. Without internal sensors, tricorders or the slightest amount of power to be able to get around the ship searching every deck of the ANUBIS would likely take days, maybe even weeks.
"Easier said than done," the Operations Officer sighed. Although he had been onboard the ANUBIS for only a very short period of time, it had been more then enough for him to know how big the ship had been and how difficult it would be to manually locate all 685 or so members of the crew.
All heads turned suddenly towards the turbolift doors which had begun to be forced open from the other side. Within seconds all available personnel rushed to the doors and helped to pry them open to reveal the Enaran Marine and a few of his men.
"Glad to see that everyone is all right," Pravat said as he pulled himself onto the bridge. "I was not looking forward to having to sort through the mess that I thought we would be faced with once we got here."
"Lieutenant Stormwind did a marvellous job at bringing the ANUBIS down in one piece, especially considering that he had next to nothing to work with in regards to being able to manoeuvre the ship. I mean a ship of this size is not exactly something easy to line up with a rapidly approaching planetary body. We could have all too easily crashed into a million pieces and been nothing more than a pile of mangled debris," the Shillian unleashed in a single breath at the sight of the Enaran Marine who quickly moved closer and took the scientist into his arms.
"We are all fine, and the ship seems to have weathered the landing rather well," the Marine Command Officer said as he tried his best to calm and reassure the Shillian. "I have my men searching through the ship and helping out wherever they can while we came up to the bridge to see if you were alright," Pravat explained with a smile that warmed the heart of the Shillian woman. Quickly recognising what he had said, the Enaran man added, "I mean to see if you were *all* alright."
"How did you and you men manage to get around the lack of power?" The Operations Officer asked. "Tricorders and lamps are not operating, so how did you find your way around the ship?"
"We used *low tech*," Pravat replied as he pointed to a torch made of a uniform shirt wrapped around a phaser riffle that had been doused in a flammable liquid and set on fire. "We put the torches out in case there had been some sort of plasma leak on the bridge. The last thing we wanted to do was to make the situation worse than it already was."
The Shillian woman could not help but smile at the simplicity of the solution presented by the Marine.
"By the way, I will need to request a new set of uniforms from my men once this is all done and over with," the Marine Command Officer grinned. "Which leads me to my next question, where is the Captain?"
"She and Uxtar are on the outer hull making contact with the locals," the new Chief Engineering Officer replied. "Hopefully they will be able to secure some aid and means for us to inspect the ANUBIS so that we can find a way to get off this planet."
Pravat looked around the bridge before casting his gaze through the opened emergency hatch which led to the outside world of which they knew nothing about. "We can hope," the Enaran said, "but I honestly doubt that it will be that easy."
