Setting: USS ANUBIS, Outer Hull, Array Section
The Hirogen Hunter stood on the highest point on the outside of the
array section which towered over the ANUBIS which was for the most part
underwater. Without ship sensors the Sec/Tac had decided to visually
survey their surroundings to try and get an idea of where they had
crashed, but all Uxtar found was that the FCO had landed them in the
middle of a vast aquatic desert.
"Hello my friend," the Vulcan hybrid said as he climbed out of the
access port that the Hirogen had used to be where he now was. "Found
anything interesting?"
"Nothing aside from the fact that you were able to drop the ship in
what appears to be the middle of nowhere," Uxtar said in a way that left
Derek wondering if the Hirogen had been kidding. "At least this will
help us stay within the limits given to us by our CO in regards to
abiding by the Prime Directive."
"Logic does dictates that we limit our contacts with the local
population," the hybrid FCO stated in a pure Vulcan manner. "But I
also support our CO's decision to having sent an away team to gather
information and supplies as it is very unlikely that any ship will come
to our rescue. It would be more likely that any ship sent to search
for us would suffer the same fate we were dealt."
"Which only means that we need to find a way off this planet quickly,
or the problem may soon be made worse," the Hirogen Sec/Tac growled with
disdain at having been unable to do more than play lookout within
nothing more than a crossbow and a sword by his side.
"On a *brighter* note," Derek stated, momentarily dropping the Vulcan
air. "Ens. Thomas and Ens. Mitshiba came up with an interesting plan
while out for a walk. They noticed that the inside face of some of the
panels used to hide conduits throughout the ship are highly reflective.
Ens. Thomas said something about this having been necessary to reflect
excess plasma energy away from the crew, but since the ship is
powerless they could use these panels for something else."
"Something else?" The Hirogen asked skeptically.
"You just have to see it for yourself," the FCO replied.

Thanks to there having to move through the ship using the maintenance
access passage ways, Jefferies Tubes and turbolift shafts, the trip
from the top of the Array Section to the core of the Saucer Section had
taken a fair bit of time. The moment the Hirogen Sec/Tac stepped onto Deck 9
though he immediately realized that something had been different.
"Where is this light coming from?" Uxtar asked knowing very well that
the deck they were on had been below water and that no outside port
could have been opened to let any light in.
"I thought you would have figured it out by now my friend," the Vulcan
hybrid replied as he pointed to one of the panels that had been turned
around to face the corridor. "Our two new Ensigns devised a way to
deflect the light of the sun through the majority of the ship. Now
this system may not be overly practical and does rely on the skies overhead
remaining clear, but it does give us the ability to see what we are
doing more than we did before. The only thing left for us to do is to
find a way to utilize the unused power cells to get some of our
instruments working," the FCO said without a hint of emotion yet still
managing to let his personal frustration peek through their attempts to
using the power cells having so far not been as successful as they had
anticipated them to be.
