Setting: CABRY III, Forest near the city of Xian-Fer
The captain had wasted no time to mobilize everyone onto the daunting
task to travel to the mountains pointed to by the ILO. Time had been
of the essence if they wanted to rescue their fellow shipmates and by the
looks of things the trek would be a long and perilous one.
Uxtar and Elliot had taken point, the COO keeping a vigilant watch for
anything that might pose a danger to the away team while the Hirogen
kept an eye on the man who had not so long ago gone nose-to-nose with
their CO. The FCO and aCMO had been quick to point out that this might
have been a mistake but Captain Rikar had wanted to get underway and
not have to leave anyone behind. As Derek had said, it had been the only
*logical* solution.
"You know, you don't have to keep an eye on me like that," Elliot said
with a half grin. "Without Roxy around to mess with my mind I am fine."
"Nothing personal," the Hirogen answered back, "but it would be nice to
make it to the mountain without any further incident."
The COO turned and glared for a brief moment at the Sec/Tac but held his tongue. Aside from the fact that Uxtar had been a superior officer, Elliot had also received a look from Akira that had made it clear to him that he needed to not take this any further.
On his end Derek had been thankful for the CO's single-mindedness to reach the mountain with all due haste as it had pushed the FCO's transgression down to being something that the captain had no time to deal with. At least that had been the impression the half Vulcan had gotten as illogical as it might have seemed knowing that their CO had not been the type of person to let something like that simply slip off the records.
As the away team made their way through the forest, the FCO decided to
catch up to his friend, although this would place him in the line of
vision of the CO, something that Derek had tried to avoid, the half
Vulcan had wanted to speak to Uxtar. The moment the FCO stepped up
next to the Sec/Tac the Hirogen turned and smile, "Decided on joining the
front line? You do know that this could be dangerous," Uxtar joked.
Derek glanced over his shoulder at the CO and aCMO who had been walking
together and turned to look back at the Sec/Tac before responding. "I
am not certain which end of this group is more dangerous."
Uxtar grinned as he glanced back to see the ILO bringing up the rear. It had not been a stretch of the imagination to believe that Enaii would step in her wife's affair should the CO be too preoccupied to take of matters herself. "I think this mission has affected us all in more way than we realize, and I am certain that the captain will be keeping this in mind when the time comes. So I would not worry too much my friend," the Sec/Tac said in an effort to reassure the FCO.
"We can only hope that you are right my friend, because if not I will
not be the only one who will look back on the events of this mission
with regret and disappointment."
