Setting: P338451, A dark room located somewhere beneath the settlement
The walls echoed unimaginable blood chilling screams of pain and
despair. Amongst them pleas for mercy could occasionally be heard,
but the CMO could do nothing. Normally Lea would have been amongst
the first to rush to help, but here in this cell she could only wait.
Lea had closed her eyes and focussed on the darkness as she tried to
distance herself from the screams. The pain had to be unbearable as
the cries continued for several hours. As gut-wrenching as all of
this had been, the CMO had learned to ignore it all. Over the course
of her imprisonment the Doctor had learned to focus on other things.
Pleasant memories from her past found their way into Lea's mind.
Faces and smiles of those she had grown to call friends also helped
her survive this agony.
For a moment Lea let her guard down and the CMO was instantly drowned
by screams of pure agony. How could anyone be expected to survive
such treatment? That this had happened each and every day since her
capture had made the entire thing unthinkable. No questions had been
asked, at least none that the CMO had understood. It was as if those
responsible enjoyed inflicting pain for the sake of pain itself.
Had the habitants of this world been testing the human tolerance for
pain? Had they been asking questions in a way that could not be
understood by the CMO? Had they just enjoyed torturing an alien to
their world to teach them a lesson?
Silence finally came as Lea lost consciousness. They, those
responsible for this torment, had done everything to keep the CMO
awake. That had been why the Starfleet officer had sought distance
from the screams. If her body could not escape at least Lea could
force her mind to be somewhere else. Now only silence remained as the
Doctor laid on the floor, her face stained with tears. Her body
showed no signs of the torture but her muscles and spirit suffered
beyond belief.
The screams, Lea's screams, had finally come to an end. Hope that
today had been the last day kept the CMO still until the next day once
again.
