MTV's GREEK LIFE 101... "class" is now in session |
||||||||||||
So basically MTV has followed around sororities and a fraternity while their rushees rush and their pledges pledge and the sisters/brothers give them complete hell. They’re always crying, complaining, creating love triangles, drinking, partying, and just screwing around. There’s not a whole lot of sisterhood or brotherhood going on but wtf! It’s their show, their lives, why not watch them party? **Disclaimer: they actually did do pledging stuff, but they did a lot of partying and they sure do have a lot of issues. SORORITY LIFE: THE ORIGINAL For the original Greek show on MTV, they followed UC Davis’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon Pi, better known as Sigma AE Pi, or just plain Sigma. Anyways. For some reason, they just had a lot of being friendly issues, not exactly love issues, unlike the latter two shows. They also did a lot of sisterly things. Like the time they went rock-climbing and then went out to the middle of nowhere and had to arranged rocks into their letters, and the formal, and the Blue and Gold dinner. And it was entertaining because of their resident drama queen, tattletale, et cetera. THE CAST: Jordan-pledge, aka the drama queen, depledged at the Blue and Gold dinner. DeDe-pledge, aka the one you never see with the man voice, ended up quitting. Amanda-pledge, aka the semi-sweet one, is still in Sigma today. Candace-pledge, aka the unreliable one, is still in Sigma today. Jessica-pledge, aka the tattle-tale, is still in Sigma today. Mara-pledge, aka the Jewish one, depledged at the Blue and Gold dinner. Becca-sister, the Pledgemaster who is a secret party girl, now president of Sigma! Famous quote: “That’s not a double, sweetie.”--Candace SORORITY LIFE: 2 For MTV’s second try at following around a sorority, they followed around University at Buffalo’s Delta Xi Omega, better known as DZO (or DXI if you’re one of the stupid Fraternity Life pledges). The sisters are little harder on their pledges than Sigma was, and they have every reason to be! They’re mean and what not, but that’s what pledging’s about: proving you’ll be a good sister. But they do have a lot of fun, like the Sex Toy party that the pledges chose to throw for the party they had to give the sisters, or the scavenger hunt (which one of the pledges “ruined”), the whole stip club thing (which several pledges skipped-tsk, tsk!), and well, they go to Canada and stuff to party. But all the girls except for Karissa and Sarah became sisters! THE CAST: Karissa Goddard-pledge, aka the studious one, depledged mid-season. Nicole Kolivas-pledge (also a legacy), aka the hopeless romantic. Mackenzie Gumpel-pledge, aka the one with the boyfriend. Brooke-pledge, aka the should-I-be-here one, depledged then rejoined. Maggie-pledge, aka the really serious one, I personally don’t like her. Sarah-pledge, aka the busy one, deactivated by the sisters midseason. Julia-pledge, aka the party and sex-crazed one. Brittany-pledge, aka one you don’t see often. Melissa-pledge (also a legacy), aka another you don’t see often. Talia Caruso-sister, president of DZO. Stacey Amico-sister, pledge mother. Janel-sister, social chair, total bitch. Amy-sister, vice president. Bridgette-sister, Nicole’s big sis. Loren-sister. La Fonya-sister. Famous quote (to date, that is): “How can we punish these girls for what they’re doing?”—a sister, I don’t remember which one. FRATERNITY LIFE MTV’s first Fraternity followed was Sigma Chi Omega, better known as Sigma Chi. The guys of the fraternity are becoming famous for the “Boot Camp line-ups”, the invention of the “beer pong table”, the “boom boom room” (if you must ask what that’s for, then why are you looking at this page? You obv don’t watch the show!), the “you’re joining my family” motto, and much more. According to the girls of DZO, there are no hot guys in Sigma Chi, although I disagree (pledges Alex, Paul, and Jarreau are pretty cute, and so is George, the pledgemaster, and I do mean master!). The guys are known to players-one pledge is dating a stripper, one is dating around frequently but DZO’s Nicole thinks he’s only going out with her, one just broke up with his long-time girlfriend to find out that being whipped was horrible, and Lord knows what the others are up to! The guys have a lot of fun, though. The Canada road-trip was funny. Three pledges had to hold on to a football for the entire weekend (they lost it about five minutes after getting it), and the other three pledges had to stay silently in the bathroom for the entire trip—together, mind you. The pledges also had to be waiters at Alum weekend, which was funny, and…oh heck. I’ll shut up now, but I love Fraternity Life! THE CAST: Earl Altheide-pledge, aka the stripper dating one, one of the most annoying. Tim Kukulka-pledge, aka the one playing Nicole, another annoying pledge. Steve-pledge, aka the one who is lazy, last of the annoying pledges, did not get in. Alex-pledge, aka the one who was whipped, his twin is in the fraternity. Jarreau-pledge, aka the one that has a weird name. Paul-pledge, aka the one most likely to be a dictator. Most famous quote (to date): “You can’t take the Rover unless you bring some strippers over. Dude, strippers have stripper friends.”—Tim to Earl. |
