"Why I Believe Professor Oak Is a Senile Old Man"
By Robert
Professor Oak is a senile old man. Now, don't misunderstand me. I think Professor Oak is a very nice, kind-hearted individual. After all, he gave me a free Charmander the one time I visited his lab. I just think he's clearly senile and should retire. He could still study and do research at the Rosetta University near Pallet Town, but I believe he should not be allowed anywhere near a Pokedex.

Personally, I find those Pokedex devices very difficult to operate, with all their buttons and such, but I know that they're useful to many Pokemon Trainers, especially those with very short attention spans who need to look up info on Pokemon every single time they encounter one, even if they've encountered them before. My beef is not with the Pokedexes, but rather with the information one senile old man known as Professor Oak has been inserting into them. Remember what Kanto was like six years ago? People trusted Oak's Pokedex and claimed that there were only 151 Pokemon. We now know this is false.

How can a Professor who's dedicated his entire life to studying Pokemon just miss the one hundred Pokemon that were added to the new Pokedex? Maybe he didn't know about Johto, where a majority of these Pokemon live? No, I did some research online and found out that he has had connections throughout the years with a man named Professor Elm who has a lab in Johto and hands out Pokemon native to Johto in the same way that Professor Oak hands Pokemon out to Pokemon Trainers in Kanto. Perhaps Professor Oak did know about the 100 Pokemon and was keeping them a secret? No, I read that Professor Oak once told a kid named Gold that 100 Pokemon had "recently" been discovered.

There is only one reasonable explanation - Professor Oak is a senile old man. The very first Pokemon I caught on my Pokemon Journey was a Farfetch'd. I knew he had to evolve into something more powerful, since he was so very weak, but one of the first people I encountered on my Pokemon Journey pulled out her Pokedex, which had been programmed by Professor Oak, and told me that Farfetch'd did not evolve. I am now, more than ever, confident that Farfetch'd can evolve. Farfetch'd's evolution, whatever it is, was not included among the 100 Pokemon added to the new Pokedex, but the evolutions and pre-evolutions of various Pokemon, such as Onix and Pikachu, were. Professor Oak was wrong when he said Onix didn't evolve. I believe he's wrong about Farfetch'd too.

In conclusion, while Professor Oak is a kind person, I believe that he is too senile to be inserting information into Pokedexes. Someone should convince him to retire and leave his Lab in the hands of one of his aides or perhaps his grandson Gary, the Viridian City Gym Leader. So while I'm out there training my Farfetch'd vigorously hoping he'll evolve, you can do your part by spreading the word that Professor Oak is unfit to run his lab in Pallet Town. Tell people that Professor Oak is a senile old man.
"Kanto to Professor Oak: You're senile."
