2007!!!

As you can see there are still no photos. I'm afraid I've dropped the ball big time. It's been very difficult for no other reason than because Celia is gone. Some of you may not know that it is the class officers who are responsible for continuing the reunions...Celia was the next officer in line after Freddie...loosing Freddie was a hard enough so it was Celia's turn to take over but no one knew Celia's health was in jeopardy. So I took over for Celia and I promised her I would continue (actually it should be Ma. Guadalupe Moreno Wilson - Secretary - Norma Lee Asebedo Garza is Treasurer and is next in line.) but I enjoy bringing people together. So this is what happened at our 2007 reunion.

The date was set...but Saturday, July 14th was the best date for this year's reunion as many of our diehard classmates who normally attend had conflicts. But thanks again to Elva (Salinas) and Jim Boren who graciously hosted this year's reunion in their home. They provided margaritas and they were excellent....

It was wonderful to see those that did attend. With so many of us losing family, parents, and classmates it's good to be able to come together to laugh and cry together. We caught up with each other and shared our trials and tribulations and well as the celebrations of the spirit over adversity. But sadly, for me, knowing that Celia was no longer with us physically, as well as our other departed classmates, well, it just wasn't the same.

Yet, there were those that made their yearly trek, like Laurie (Diaz)and John Goudeau, who came in from Houston. I was especially happy to see Linda Adams, Mary Alvarado and Diana Flores Alcocer, who have attended in previous years but made it to this one. It's always wonderful to have classmates come back. We still have two more gatherings before the 40th but after the 40th, this classmate will be hanging up her tennis shoes. We need to start organizing committees and volunteers for the 40th. If there is someone who would like to organize the 40th let them speak now or forever hold their peace. I would hate to start the process only to have it broken up by a small group.

I was reminded by Rachel (Gutierrez) and Julio de la Garza that it is love and faith and God's spirit that is first and last. Thank you guys so much for not only speaking it but demonstrating it in your lives. Your love exudes so much joy, its contagious.

To all that attended...thank you from the depths of my heart.

As I told you Laurie and John Goudeau traveled from Houston to our reunion but Laurie made my 55th birthday on Friday the 13 so very special. She brought me a picture from the past of five little girls. That picture touched my soul -- it had been a memory that has often filled my dreams over the years...I have never forgotten. I'm sharing the picture with ya'll...see if you can recognize who it is.
