A Great
St. George Social Club

Since 1995
TGIF or “Thank Goodness It’s Friday” meets on the third Friday of each month except December at a member’s home or member clubhouse.

TGIF is an excellent place to meet friends new and “old” and have great conversations.  When Duane and I (Barbara Mathison)  moved here 3 years ago, we only knew 2 people in Utah (Hal & Rose Eward).  Within 3 weeks we joined Dixie Newcomers and attended our first TGIF.  We’ve only missed a couple (due to being out of town) and look forward to each one!

Sometimes we celebrate TGIF with a theme such as Mardi Gras, St Patrick’s or Halloween and dress up in costumes.  Costumes aren’t required but sure are fun.  Most of the time attire is “comfortable” and some even like to dress up… just come and join the fun!

I love scheduling and making arrangements for each month.  There are plenty of opportunities for hosting if you are interested.  It is an honor and pleasure to be invited to our hosts’ homes.  Sometimes we even get to view some special projects and interests!

RESERVATIONS

Reservations are a must and the earlier you call the host listed in the Calendar section of the newsletter the better your chances are of being on “the in” for that month.  As long as you are a member of Dixie Newcomers ~ single or married, no skills required ~ you can join in on this great party!

Member’s homes vary in size so the host may limit the number that can be accommodated each month – that’s why calling for reservations early is so important.  A waiting list is established if needed.  If you find that you are not able to attend after you have made reservations please call the host immediately.  Many times a member will schedule to host at their clubhouse then a $1.00 fee will be assessed to each person attending to defray the clubhouse rental fee.  If you think your home is not big enough and/or you don’t have access to a clubhouse – perhaps there is someone you could co-host with.

FOOD & DRINKS

Now, about the food ~ since this is the main evening meal for most ~ some members like to bring their favorite dish to pass and there are even those that like to experiment on some delicious delicacies but if this is not your preference and you don’t cook much (or at all) have no fear just bring a dish of appetizers. Make enough for about 10 people.   Don’t forget your serving utensils especially if going to a member’s clubhouse.

Also, bring your own beverages and mixes.  The host furnishes coffee, tea & water only plus paper products which includes; plates, napkins, cups/glasses and flatware.

TGIF offers a wonderful atmosphere in which to mingle, meet interesting people, share food and have fun.  Call if you have any questions.
