SUPPORT GROUPS
Support Group Chair positions shall be filled after discussion and appointment by the General Board Morning Social Chair: Norma Oliphant 652-1954 A morning Introduction Social is held on the first Thursday of each month. The time and location are announced in the monthly Newsletter and The Spectrum. This meeting is held for those interested in joining Dixie Newcomers. A synopsis of the group is presented and new members may join at this time. Anyone wishing to attend should call either the host of the month or the Membership Chair. Community Volunteering Chair: Patricia & Keith Vandewark 627-0765 There are many opportunities for volunteer work in the St. George area. Some activities are one a once a year basis while others are ongoing. Announcements will be made at the Luncheon meeting and in the Newsletter regarding volunteer opportunities. For those who want to be more active in community volunteering, please call the Volunteering Chair. Helping Hands Committee Chair: Patt Crandall 674-1346 This committee will check on ill members, perform light errands, pick up prescriptions, provide transportation to the doctor and possibly deliver a pot of chicken soup when requested. Please call the Chair or a Board Member if a “helping hand” is needed. The Chair will maintain a list of members that can be called upon to check on an ill member. If you are willing to provide a “helping hand” please contact the Chair. The city will be divided into sections so that committee members will be helping their neighbor. Wraps of Love This Community Blanket Project is independently worked by each individual. Volunteers will make handmade, washable blankets to be given out by local charities such as the Dove Center and Hope Pregnancy Care Center. Volunteers create these gifts of love to be wrapped around women in crisis, women and children who are struggling. There are a few patterns for crocheted blankets if you are interested. Contact the host for information and questions. |
