Dog Bed

1 yard 44” wide pre-quilted crib blanket material for each bed. You may need more depending on your hems & bed size

You will need 16 ft. of PVC pipe. I chose 1 ¼ inch.

PVC pipe cutting tool

Rubber mallet

8 Elbows

6 T’s

Cut your PVC pipe according to the size of the desired finished bed. In my example, the bed is approximately 35” X 24 ½”.

You will need 2 pieces 25” long (lengthwise sides) and 2 pieces 21” long for the top frame (crosswise sides).

Bottom frame needs 4 pieces 9 ½” long, 1 25 ½” piece for the length of the frame. (The measurement should be as long as the distance between the top sidepiece length between the t’s.)

4 7 ½” pieces for legs.

When joining the T’s on top next to the Elbows, you will need 4 small pieces of the PVC pipe about 1 ½” long. This allows approximately ¾” to be fitted into the elbows & Ts to join.

To make the frame:

Top frame:

Assembling Bottom frame: Join an elbow onto a 9 ½” piece. Join the other end to a T. Add another 9 ½” piece to the opposite side of the T opening , ending the straight piece with an elbow. The elbows will hold the legs. Repeat for other end. Join the assembled top and bottom with the long 25 1/2” piece.

Insert the legs into the elbows.

Bed From Underneath

When cutting your fabric for the top, if there is a center design be sure to allow for that. Add 3 1/2 for the casings the PVC pipe goes through, folded under, hemming close to the raw edge on all four outer sides. I first finished the raw edges with a zigzag stitch. I cut the four corners at an angle allowing extra fabric for the hem. (Turn under about 1 1/4 inches.)In order to remove the cover, do not glue the pipe together for easy removal. Take apart the necessary straight pipes to insert the cover. Then insert the legs into the top T’s. Use the rubber mallet to join pieces.
