For night life it is really about your interest and perhaps your age group. Say you are in your 50's then you may not like those pill-popping disco, although I have seen men in 50's gyrating, hopping to the techno music. E-hem, no offense really. On the other hand, if you are the restless type, sitting still listening to the band playing and singing would not be your cup of tea either. Here are some of the places I have tried and what I think of them, and BTW, I am in my early 30's:

DISCO************
Paragon:
1 word. Hot, hot, hot. (Opps, actually 3 words) If you want HDY to know that you are there, go to this disco. Personally, I do no like Disco because of those loud techno music. BUT, those girls, woohoo, just come around and pick you up if you are sitting without an escort. Go after 11pm, and I am sure you will be 'pick up' in 5 minutes. OR, do the 'picking-up' youself.

Emperor:
Arrrhhhmm. What was that again? Although I go there on my every trip, but that were always because of my puyings. Otherwise, pay another 10B to the tuk-tuk and go to Paragon.

LOUNGE*********
Kiss Chanel:
Great decor, entertaining performances, value for money pricing. This place is not for the disco crowd. Although the music can be loud at times, but hey, no sound no fun. Your puying could still dance to the music, and you would not have to work-off to strain your back bone. Great place especially if you go in group. The dancers and singers are pretty hot and bro ++ said some of them may be open to an invitation for drinks and more. Whether they will go back to your room after that depends entirely to your power of persuasion.

Lounge at Ground Floor of Pink Hotel(Not sure of the name):
Alright decor, good performance and the drink is alright too. Not my cup of tea but then if you are romancing your puying, this dimly litted lounge is suitable for you two lovebirds to do some talking, smooching and exploring. Nice sofas too.

Brass Monkey or Monkey:
Nice decor but not happening. I doubt the business will be different even after the renovation and name change. It is smack right in the midst of 3, 4 nice band-playing pubs, and its previous marketing model is very poor. Still, walk up (it is on the first floor) to this 'new' place to check it out, and if you do not like it, other pubs, lounges or discos are just 50 metres away, or 20B away.

PUBS*********
West Side Saloon:
Good band, good musics, good decor. Try go there with a full stomach cause the food is pricey for HDY standard. However, the place is very good if you want to unwind with your friends, sharing good stories, sipping wine and downing some Singha accompany by good music coming from the band. The decor gives you a kind of lazy feeling and the band can play English songs from the 60's to the 90's, and in pretty decent English too!

The PUBB:
Just about 100 paces from West Side, this place is more happening than the other 3 pubs located along this stretch of Thamnoonvithi Road. At least the crowd looks like it. On any given day, this place usually gets more crowd than the other 3, and the hostesses sitting outside, in my opinion, are also the prettiest. This place has a neo-modern decor, good band playing more contemporary music, and the crowd seems younger too. Great place to hang out after a nice meal, or, to check out the hostesses. And since it closes at 1am, you can still ask these after-work hostesses out to Paragon which closes at 2am. Hehehe. Better still, go there early, bring your laptop along and enjoy the free WIFI. Impress the hostesses with some nice lovely sites on your laptop and then show them some of your legendary typing moves on the keyboard, and your long sturdy fingers....you know what people say about men with long fingers...

SugarBeat:
Is this a pub, or a lounge? Well, here in the land of smile, the answer is: WHO CARES? Go there after 11pm, and if you are lucky, enjoy the beer, and visually enjoy the not-booked-for-the-night farm girls. What would these girls be singing to you about if they are?? "Can I follow you, puchai? To your room for just 2000B, I give you a blowjob and handjob, then suck you dry till you give me away." This is not always the lyrics you will be hearing, or receiving from these free-lance farm girls. Still, in plain words, a possible pick up place. One word of advice: Exercise caution when picking up FL.

KARAOKE******
Never been to one, but I know that most of them provide good selection of Chinese and English songs. In my very very humble opinion, they are not worth the money. But if there is one great way to get the puyings going, karaoke is the name! 95% of puying I know (not necessarily slept with, mind you ) love to karaoke. Bring them there and they will LOVE you for it! Errhh, at least for that night.

SERVICES******
Tuk-Tuk:
Whenever and wherever there is money to be made, the tuk-tuk will be there. When you are done with your drinking and dancing at the night spot, too drunk to walk back to your sweet hotel bed? Do not fret. Just hop on any of the unique "taxis" waiting outside. Just make sure you have your 20B fare ready. Oopps, that should be 40B...hehe, 20B for yours, and well, another 20B for your puying.

Supper:
OK, so you are done with the drinking but you want to fill up that hollow tummies of yours and the puying before sleeping. (Sleep? Just joking, ) There are not many places for that late night snack after 2am, but if you are staying somewhere near Lea Garden Shopping Complex, ask you tuk-tuk to drop you off in front of Grand Plaza Hotel, and there are still plenty of hawkers ready to serve you: Duck Soup Noodle, Pork Porridge, Thai Soup Noodles, Sweet Soup and more. Other option? Get your instant noodle at the nearby 7-11.
