OK It’s official -- the Steeple is an amazing venue!! Two floors of fun fun fun!! Downstairs was
in the main body of what used to be the chapel and right next to the main bar. All accounts say
that the bartenders were on fire that night – courteous, friendly and fun. (And that includes the
owner Savvas, who was back there gettin’ down and dirty with his staff filling drink orders).
Upstairs was perfect for talking, playing Trivial Pursuit, and dancing in a less crowded space. It
was a little bright (we’ll fix that for the next time we’re there) but people had a good time. And
of course the Underground for chilling out and exploring the Secret Room.
I have to admit I was a bit worried about the night -- we were up against the 20th anniversary of
local legend Anti-Seen, the Def Leppard show, Greensboro’s incredible Celebre Noir (which we
will avoid scheduling against in the future), and the fact that it had been a year since there was a
non-fetish goth event in Charlotte. But THANK YOU!! So many of you were out before 11pm
with positive feedback all night – new faces, old faces, and (as far as I know) no drama! And you
have to know it’s a good night when the owner comes up to you at 11:30 and wants to schedule
the next event! :) Many *many* thanks to Torch for helping to get our feet in the door, and to
Greg and Kelly for helping to make the night a success. Thank you also to those that traveled in
from Columbia, Winston Salem, and other parts unknown – very unexpected!
I handled most of the main floor while the Dynamic Duo (Techbat and Ogg) handled upstairs.
We switched off for a while at around 12:15, so I could get my 80's groove on for a while
upstairs and they could rock the downstairs. Our next event in May will be at another venue for
some LIVE MUSIC over Memorial Day weekend, and then back at the Steeple at the end of

It’s beautifully produced, Karin’s vocals are lovely (as always), and Statik’s self-proclaimed
“noise” is anything but -- absolutely perfect for the venue and to set a gothy sort of mood.
