About The Worst Witch
							Jill Murphy based the books on her schooldays, inspired by a comment of her mother's that she and two schoolfriends looked like the three witches. Many of the characters are based on people she knew at school. So far four books have been written (The Worst Witch, The Worst Witch Strikes Again, A Bad Spell For The Worst Witch & The Worst Witch All At Sea). Rumour claims a fifth is now being written. There have also been a film and TV series based on the books. The books take Jill about two weeks to write and about six months to illustrate (yes, she does her own illustration). She has also written books for younger children.
