There is only one hard and fast rule: all stories submitted should be suitable for children, the books and series are for children after all. So, no swearing, no sex or nudity and minimal violence (ie. a slap in the face may be acceptable but a chainsaw massacre certainly is not!). If you're not sure about something either leave it out or ask me for my opinion or how it could be modified. If you have a more mature story you want to share I may consider it for Monomyth, if it is amazingly well written.
Note: 1) Please note which category it fits in - general worst witch (a bad hair day is an example of this, it could occur in the books or TV series), the book reality, the film reality, the film reality or some alternative reality of your own creation. General stories should not contradict anything in any medium and should be self-contained. Book-based stories should not contradict the books but could contradict the series or films (but try not to if possible!). Film-based books follow the premises of the 1986 film (ie. a little less 'serious' and probably including people bursting into song, and Mildred looks like Fairuza Balk). Series-based stories follow the continuity of the TV series and should not contradict events there. I will consider alternate reality stories (such as Mildred as a grown up or where she really is expelled), but they must be very impressive to justify chucking away the continuity! 2) At the moment I'd only like to receive stories under 2000 words or so embedded in the e-mail to atlanteanpublishing@hotmail.com. You can send me stories by snail mail to the Atlantean Publishing address (38 Pierrot Steps, 71 Kursaal Way, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, SS1 2UY, UK- please mark them 'WW submission') in which case I will consider stories of upto 4000 words. If you want a reply pleae include an e-mail or SSAE (IRC if you live over seas). I will also consider poetry. 3) I don't pay for any stories. All I do is put them on my site. This is not an authorized or official site. 4) Please use British English (after all it is set in Britain) and make sure your spelling and grammar are reasonably accurate, I don't have the time to check whole stories for mistakes.
Harry Potter and similar fan fictions: If anyone is interested in writing these the same rules apply (must be suitable for children and not contradict established fact). If there is demand I will set up fan fiction pages for these.
Please feel free to send me your comments and questions about the fan fiction or post them on my message board. |
