West Ham United live to survive another season in England's top-flight after a miraculous escape to 2006-07. With some high profile new signings hopefully this season will be a lot less stressful and hopefully the Hammers will be at the right end of the table come the end of the season. It all kicks off at 3pm on 11th August 2007 at home to Manchester City - come on you Irons!!!

WEST HAM UNITED (0) 1
70 min - New signing Kieran Dyer releases his ex-Newcastle teammate Craig Bellamy, who is clearly upended by City keeper Colin Doyle as he takes the ball past him, clipping his legs on the way through. Man-of-the-match Mark Noble steps up and scores the Irons' first goal of the season from the resulting penalty. Quite how Birmingham manager Steve Bruce couldn't see how that was a blatant penalty is inexplicable, as were some of his excuses after the game for his side losing.
