THE LATEST BUZZ FROM THE ROCKETS
As most of you are aware former founder of The Delta Riders, Joe Graziani joined our line-up 2 months ago. Joe has been on fire ever since. We released a new CD, "I Hear My Baby Knocking" 2 weeks ago on Galaxy Records. The CD contains songs from Joe's Delta Riders days and 5 new releases by "The Rockets' & Joe Graziani. On 9/8/03, we were signed to the Bradley House Music Label. The CD is being distributed by Rock Bottom Distribution of Deluth, Ga. The deal with Bradley House involves us in a new CD project produced by Fred Shaw! Fred will have total production authority over the new project. The tentitive release date is 12/02/04........
We are thrilled to announce the addition of Fred Hickman, "Crossroads' Drummer to our line-up. Fred's band was put on hold after the death of their bass player. They had been together for 30 years. We will all miss him! He was a wonderful person, I never had the pleasure of meeting him but he was life long friends with other members of the Band.. Our hearts and prayers are with his family & friends. In conjuction with that, we held a benifit for them last month at the Little River Fire Department and raised $2500.00. If any of you knew Him and want to contribute please contact the Little River Fire Department............... Fred is an awesome singer & drummer. His range is an octave above "C". Not many in that range. Fred will have a home with the Rockets as long as he wants.

                                                THE LATEST BUZZ

The new CD has been receiving airplay on several local & regional Radio Stations. I'll provide a list at the end of this article. The songs DJ's have chosen are vairied. Locally they are spinning "Your All I Need" & "I Hear My Baby Knocking"  Others like Slam Bam Boom & Bad Girls. My favorite is "Your All I Need". Joe won't tell me who the songs about and as long as it's not about anybody I'm dateing or was married to, it's COOL!
We have been invited to play at this years Cammy Awards New Music Showcase & Industry Awards. The new name is The 2003 Carolina Beach Music Awards! WHATEVER THEY CALL IT, WE'RE HONORED TO DO IT! Nothin like playing for your peers! Definetly not a time to BOMB! Not much chance of that with these guys & the number of shows we've played recently, but I could break a string or something , you never know. I remember when I was a kid my band was doing an audition at the old Michigan Palace in Detroit for a MAJOR ACT (Aerosmith)who was  looking for an opener for their upcoming tour. We we're playing away with All The Aerosmith boys watching from the balcony and just as our drummer was doing a solo thing his SEARS ROBUCK drum kit fell apart. He was beating air! We STOPPED COLD. They laughed, I cried! Then left by the stage door minus my Les Paul Copy Guitar which someone stole in the confusion! So you see anything could happen...Like us having a #1 Song!!!!..or maybe we'll just have a #2 and call it a day!
The boys invaded an un-named radio station in Fayetteville, NC. 3 weeks ago on Sunday night, I sat in my car here in Surfside with my phone and joined in on the interview (couldn't pick it up for some reason in the house). All during the show I had to drive back & forth in my driveway to get the signal in. It went great, what I heard of it! . The un-named DJ enjoyed the guys sick sence of humor & the customary "Seafood" offering (I mean, unsolicited oyster gift) brought by our keyboard player to the DJ's family. Mike Thomas, our keys man, also runs a seafood business and always has some shellfish in his pick-up for a friendly DJ!! Did I forget to mention I was born & raised in Detroit and grew up during the Hitsville days! My neighbor was  a VP @ MOTOWN during the ole payola scandel.  Really, we wait until DJ's play our stuff, then they get the seafood, we have never said, "if you play our songs you'll get some crabs". Many continue to buy shellfish from us, after the're "hooked" on the "Fish"! For those of you who love seafood be glad you're not in a band with a seafood man. YOU CAN COME TO NOT CARE FOR IT AFTER AWHILE! Kinda like hearing one of our songs over and over again!...............SEE YA AT SOS!

PS. The band will be performing all during the SOS week at different locations we'll also be signing autograph's & selling our new CD "I Hear My Baby Knocking". If you're in the business don't forget to  ask Mike if he has his pick-up with him. Or maybe just look in the back of his truck when he's not around!...If you do find his pick-up.Don't mind the smell it's probably just empty boxes of our old CD!....Thanks / Doug
