Xena came from the Howling Shay/Bear Kennel, located just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. She is by far the largest and tallest female here at Hidden Trails. She stands about 35" tall and weighs about 130 pounds. Xena had a very unfortunate accident the day she came home with us. She was running and playing around the living room under our
supervision, when she ran up and startled our manx cat and the cat clipped Xena in the eye. After a few visits to our vet and
medicine in the eye our vet referred us to an eye specialist vet. There is where Xena was diagnosed blind in that eye. The cat had clipped the iris of the eye. We now know to keep that particular cat away from all puppies and vise versa.  To me her eye looks bad but to the eye specialist it looks good.  This eye problem has no effect or bearing on Xena's babies/off spring. Xena by far is the most social animal here, She has  never met a stranger and she has literally been raised in the house and around our children and
other children as well. (Adult supervised only) She is not a water kid because the eye vet said it was best for Xena to be in the cool A/C for those first hot summer months after the accident so she did not have a water troft in the house. However, she loves ice cubes, every time someone would go to the fridge Xena would get an Ice cube for a treat. We also had to build a pen in the house for her for those times we had to be out of the house and could not supervise her. She learned that if any one was standing close enough and not paying attention to her, she would stick her whole front leg out of the squares of the pen and paw at your leg until she would have your full undivided attention. She lives out side now and she will still do that with her front leg.
She gets so excited to meet new people, that when people come to visit they
want to take her home.
