Bus Stop 2nd Drive
|
||||
At the office, Kyuugo goes up to Natsuo to ask her why she didn't turn up at the Tavern on the Blue last night (after her ordeal, Natsuo had forgotten) and then tells her how Chiken had got quite drunk and rowdy. As they are talking, Natsuo's boss walks up to her and hands her an assignment to do data research on one of the company's subsidiaries. It's a hot, sticky day and everyone inside the Tozai bus depot is feeling the heat. Musashi's slumped over the table, looking at Natsuo's high heel, which he had fixed. Hiraoka comes in and tells everyone to get to work. He looks over at Musashi and asks if he'd been jilted by a girl again, and Musashi is kind of offended by this, and so the "shacho" then says, "no? well, at your age, you should give up anyway!" Kazuma comments about how Natsuo works for their parent company, Sasajima, and is this big-shot executive. Another driver, Naruse Hiroshi, asks for her name, and Musashi replies "Orihime-sama", and then lookingat Natsuo's shoe, says "..no, it should be Cinderella..." The colleagues make fun of him, saying that he didn't even know her name, so she must be a beauty ("bijin")... and he corrects them, saying "not just beautiful, but an exceptional beauty!" His female co-worker, Kobayashi Sayuri, looks at the shoe, and comments that it seems expensive, and guesses that it's "Ferragamo"... Musashi, who is obviously ignorant about brand names, asks "nani-gamo?.." (what gamo?...) Musashi then measures the shoe and finds that the heel's 9 cm. As he's 168 cm and she's 166 cm, wearing the heel would then make her 7 cm taller! The others comment that it means he'll always have to look up to her. Musashi then grabs one of his colleagues, Naruse, and gets him to stand at her height, and using him as the dummy, tries to kiss him! Naruse tries to get away, and as they're struggling, in walks Natsuo!! (It's quite funny!) Natsuo exchanges formalities with "shacho" (Hiraoka), but Musashi cuts in with his own paper-version of a name-card to exchange with her, and she does in an uneasy way, and then the others rush up to do the same! Afterwards, Natsuo sits down with Hiraoka, and again Musashi interrupts them, first bringing over the fan (but it's too close so Natsuo's hair is blowing around wildly!) and then edging in with his own seat, displacing shacho!. By this time, Natsuo is thoroughly irritated, and so when she's trying to explain her reason for being here and Musashi breaks in by saying "for your high heel, right? It's been fixed!", she snaps at him - saying "no! I'm not here for that!!" She tells Hiraoka about their plans to do a Tozai Bus promotional compaign, and that she's here to do market research and also gather some info about the bus company's administrative structure. Hiraoka asks why they picked Tozai Bus, and she says a little sheepishly, "...because of all the subsidiaries, you're located closest to Sasajima Corporation..." Suddenly Yutaka (the big bus driver) walks out from the bathroom with just a towel around his waist and a shower cap, making Natsuo scream in surprise! As the others rush around to cover him up, Yutaka looks over at Natsuo and asks if "that's the lady that's here to pick up her high heel" and Musashi nods happily - at which point, Natsuo, through gritted teeth, says "no, I'd already told you I'm not here for that!" Matsuri's at the Tavern on the Blue, and looking around the place while Fumiya's doing a mural painting on one of the walls. She walks over and looking at the painting which has a tower, asks Fumiya if he's ever seen the view from there (thinking that it's the Tokyo Tower). She's surprised when Fumiya says he's never been, and he tells her he's painting the Eiffel Tower, in Paris! Natsuo's complaining to Chiken about what happened to her at Tozai bus depot, saying how that the place is so dirty, and has no airconditioning and the people are so uncouth and there's this ugly naked guy who walked out, and how the place smelled, etc etc. But Chiken doesn't seem repulsed, sighing over the "manly smells" and how she hasn't encountered it for a long time. Natsuo looks at her in disgust and tells her that she's strange, but she retorts that Natsuo's too picky! Kyuugo comes out with their dinner, which he'd cooked and as they're eating, Chiken tells him about how Musashi's been chasing Natsuo, but Natsuo says that she won't accept a blue-collar worker. Chiken thinks she's ungrateful, saying "but he repaired your shoe..." Kyuugo, who obviously likes Natsuo, says that if it were him, he'd buy her a new pair... so Chiken then tells him, half teasingly, "oh, but my shoe's broken too..." and he tells her that she should get herself a new pair then! Chiken turns the conversation back to Natsuo, saying how it's "first Kojiro, and now Musashi..." but Natsuo quickly says that it's not the same thing at all! She looks at her ring as she says this, and Chiken tells her that she should throw out the ring. Kyuugo's shocked by the suggestion, saying "but it's a present from Kojiro-san!", and Chiken tartly replies "that's why she should throw it out!" Natsuo doesn't say anything, but she seems a bit unsettled by Chiken's suggestion... Matsuri is talking with Musashi in their bedroom and she's telling him how she thinks he and Natsuo are not a good match as she's obviously way about his station in life, and they have nothing in common. To prove how uncultured he is, she starts throwing in these art history questions from the art book that he's reading, and he obviously gets all the answers wrong. He asks her "why she's developed a sudden interest in art", and when she says that she's just trying to improve herself, he goes... "ah, so you like Fumiya..." and she says "...yes..." before realising what she'd said. Musashi had found out from Q-chan, their parrot, which copies everything that's being said to him and recently he'd been going "Fumiya-kun, Fumiya-kun"!! Natsuo goes to Tozai bus depot to pick up some of the company's documents for research and on her way out, gets a call from Chiken to play golf on Saturday. As they arrange for a time, Musashi comes in and overhears her conversation. She hangs up and turns around to find Musashi standing there. He says "golf.." to her and she replies snipily that he wouldn't know anything about it. After she leaves, Musashi grabs Kazuma and asks him to give him some pointers... At home, Musashi's listing all the "tips" Kazuma is giving him about chasing girls, noting down that he should just keep complimenting her on everything - her shoes, ring, etc. And that he should stay on her left side at all times... "why?" asks Musashi... "because that's the way to get an excellent backside view of her butt!" says Kazuma. His uncle then comes back, bringing with him the golfing equipment he'd borrowed for Musashi. He tells them it's a famous brand - "Tigerbomb..." he says, and his son corrects him, saying "you mean, TigerWOOD..." Matsuri then comes in and dampens their excitement by saying "but onichan doesn't know how to play golf!" They all look at him in concern, but Musashi's not bothered at all, saying "how hard can it be". As he's practising his swings up in their room, Matsuri's watching him and says that she envies him for his "devil-may-care" attitude. Musashi asks "why? Is Fumiya giving you worries?" and offers to check Fumiya out, but Matsuri tells him to leave her affairs alone, and to concentrate on not making a fool of himself on Saturday! At the golfing range, Natsuo gets a last-minute call from Chiken saying she can't come. Musashi shows up in his golfing attire (he looks so goofy with a straw hat!) and tries to pass off their meeting as a coincidence, but she accuses him of eavesdropping on her phone conversation last time. Musashi has no idea how to play, and picks a putter to drive the ball! It's quite funny watching him hit the turf mat, trying to get the ball to come up. Natsuo tells him bossily to insert the token card into the machine and to change the club. He's finally ready, but then he takes a big swing and totally misses the ball. After a bit, she tells him to watch how she plays, but as she lines up her shot, he's absorbed by her backside instead and she tells him off for staring! He then tries his own shot and makes contact (yeah!) but it goes off at a weird angle and hits her butt instead! (This is soooo funny!) Natsuo's now totally fed-up and decides to leave. As she is packing up, he tries to stall her by going off and buying her a drink. When he returns, she's put on her normal shoes, so he tries to compliment her on the shoes, asking if it's "Karugama", and she says "you mean, Ferragamo.." He tries again, this time complimenting her on her ring, asking if she'd bought it herself - but he's really put his mouth in it this time - because it hits her soft spot and brings back memories of how Kojiro had given it to her one Christmas. She takes it off, puts it on the tee and takes a determined swing, hitting it out into the range! She then turns to Musashi - who's struck-dumb by her action - and says "see, I'm not weak!" and turns to go. But Musashi goes out to the field to retrieve it for her - and upsets all the other golfers there! (It really is very dangerous!) At the pub, Matsuri is sneaking through Fumiya's sketch book and sees a sketch of Haruka. Fumiya comes in and she quickly shuts the book, but then can't resist asking him if he has a younger sister. (She's jealous of the sketch!) As Fumiya settles down to work on the wall mural, he tells her no and to go away and stop bothering him. She's hurt by his curt words and leaves. Back at home, their aunt and uncle are eagily awaiting Musashi's return and speculating about his date. But when Musashi comes home, they can tell from his demeanour that he didn't make it, even though he told them that everything was fine. Up in their bedroom, both the brother and sister are cast down by the unhappy developments, and are sighing over their respective troubles. At home, Natsuo's working on her laptop, and she opens up Kojiro's last email and rereads it, thinking back on what happened between them. Musashi decides to go back to the golfing range to look for the ring again, but it's very dark and the field is very large and cluttered with many golf balls, and it seems that he's searching in vain with his flashlight, but he repeats stubbornly to himself that it's "taisetsu mono desu" (it's very important to her")... Musashi returns home later, all grubby from the search and finds that Matsuri has gone out. Matsuri's working in the pub, and Natsuo's also there, drinking at the bar counter. Fumiya notices that her ring's gone and she tells him that she'd chucked it out. "Feeling regret?" he asks, and then comments that it's all a game ("shoobu"), a game for happiness, and that both of them are losing. Natsuo suddenly thinks back on the meeting with Kojiro's mom and how she'd ripped up the cheque, telling the mother not to worry as she has no intentions of giving up her work and marrying Kojiro anyway. Kojiro's mom seems satisfied, but before leaving, tells Natsuo not to tell Kojiro about their meeting. She gets up to go to the washroom, and Musashi then walks in. He sees Matsuri working there and grabs her to leave, telling her that this is not an appropriate place for her to be. As they're struggling, Natsuo comes out and thinking that Musashi's stalking her, she threatens to call the police! As he's trying to explain how this time is really a coincidence, she goes over to Fumiya and tells him about what happened at the golfing range today and how Musashi had been crazy enough to go out to the field to try and recover it! "It's impossible, there's NO way he could possibly find it!" she asserts. But Musashi quietly reaches into his pocket and takes out the ring - which he'd wrapped in a dirty handkerchief - and puts it down on the counter, saying "i did find it..." Natsuo's speechless and stares at the ring. Her hand moves towards it, but she hesitates, and doesn't actually touch it. Musashi tells her that "memories are our greatest treasure... and this is your most important treasure." ("Natsuo-san no takaramono desu...") After he leaves, Natsuo picks up the ring and puts it back on her finger...
