The waiting part 1 - 6/1/01

A short first entry, as I'm working (I type at home for living). I'm a mom of an autistic son and a typical girl. We are thinking we're pregnant with baby #3 after 7 years. It is scary yet wonderful all at the same time! Pregnancy is always awesome, scary, wonderful, terrifying, and natural, all at the same time. Add to it older parents with a child already having special needs and you're second-guessing yourself EVERY step of the way. We're already 36 & 37 and will be almost 37 and dh will be 38 when baby comes (if this baby is really THERE, which I think it is....)

I'm so Sleepy today. - 6/3/01

I need to start dinner -- have picked up living room, read through a few internet sites, kids are outside, and I have a mountain of typing to complete this week before my vacation. (on tape #4 of 6, hope to finish 4 today and part of 5! and then proofing all of them and then send in end of week, in time for my kids' last day of school!) But just wanted to write another short entry. We have an eensy weensy house and I'm trying to plan where the babe will go! We have a tiny ranch, no garage, no basement. But I think the crib can go along one wall in my daughter's room. And the swing can go next to the stereo cabinet in the living room. I think that will work! I don't think there's anything else we HAVE to have -- the stroller can go in the car. And clothes, I have a wicker bookcase in daughter's room I thought I could stack the clothes in. I plan to nurse again so hopefully won't need huge stashes of bottles or anything. More later!

The waiting is over! - 6/7/01

At 5:30 a.m. this morning I received a positive VERY FAINT positive line. We are very excited, happy, and a little scared too! I will write more soon.

My hubby had an appendectomy! - 6/25/01

So it's been a wild and crazy week! Oh my gosh. DH started throwing up last Wednesday and then the next day started having pains in his right side! So we took him to the hospital, and they did the appendectomy Thurs night (Friday morning, at midnight). It turned out his appendix had ruptured! We were all very very scared! But as the days have gone by he has gotten stronger and tonight finally had a solid meal and took his first walk in the hospital hallway tonight. He's going to be all right! But when we were so scared I was so worried he may die, and that I'd be alone to raise my children, three of them, 10 1/2 (autistic son), 7 (girl) and my baby that is now 6 1/2 weeks (from LMP). Boy, their daddy is so special to all of us. I am feeling fine physically -- a little tired, and thought maybe I had a touch of nausea this morning but it really didn't develop. Have to get kids in bed -- later!

The Tuesday Hubby Update - 6/26/01

DH got to eat some pears last night and a few bites of mashed potato and turkey! They brought him this huge dinner last night and his mom had a few bites too and drank the coffee. I am so happy that he ate a little! Can't wait to hear that he had breakfast too! Just talked to him -- he had some cereal and a muffin! Yesterday he had the catheter out. And he walked to the bathroom, and has continued to into today! That is such a big step! He is coming home tomorrow -- going to his mom's for a while (where it's quieter and less hectic!) He's switching to oral antibiotics today instead of the IV! God is so good. I was so scared and now am so relieved. He got stitches today.

7/9/01

I'm due Feb 13! 8 weeks tomorrow, a little nauseous, no vomiting yet. Still a secret -- but already popping out so it won't be for long!

Thrown up twice now, two different mornings. Still not much m/s in the afternoons (yeah!) I asked by gynecologist about the risks. He said about 5/100 for autism again and 1/200 for Downs. Still 95% chance of a normal healthy child. Baby due February 13, 02

10/23/01

Boy, so behind in posting here -- busy busy busy busy busy!! I'm 24 weeks tomorrow, and feeling moderately big, and a little tired -- but pretty good generally! Love to feel the kicking. Hoping we can handle all this - will be very challenging, but can't wait to see its beautiful face and to see our other children Owen and Renee with him/her. Friday we are possibly to find out if it's a boy or girl with the regular ultrasound! Will try and update then with the picture!!

10/25/01

I've gained 20 pounds so far, which is better than my last pregnancy! I still had vomiting last week -- about every 2-3 weeks I have it -- but that's not bad! The regular M/S went away about 15 weeks, I think. Still busy busy with typing and the kids and the family.

10/28/01

Had our ultrasound -- we are having a BOY! It's so fun to know what we're having! We never found out before - it's also fun being surprised but we did that twice so now doing it this way for my last pregnancy. We would have been just as happy with another girl (we have one of each already). So three months to decorate a bit in BLUE!

11/15/01

Less than three months left! I'm starting to get more tired and winded now. Anxious to see this little guy and begin our life as a family of 5! But also trying to just enjoy this my last time to be pregnant. My 28 week appnt is in less than a week already. Can't believe it....

1/9/02

5 weeks left -- 8 months pregnant today AND 35 weeks. Had 35 week appt today and dr. took these cute pictures to make sure baby was head down! Tired, winded, and ready, but wanting baby Ryan to grow as much as he needs to! Started washing baby clothes the other day....
