Doris Spooner Hall is an Assistant Professor of Music at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. She is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mrs. Hall received the Bachelor of Music Education and Masters degree from Louisiana State University in Music Education. Mrs. Hall received her Educational Specialist degree in Administration from Alabama A&M University. She is currently working towards the Doctorate degree in Administration and Leadership in Higher Education at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. | Doris Hall is an active professional flutist in the northern area of Alabama. She has served as a part-time lecturer and teacher at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and at Oakwood College. Mrs. Hall has served as principal flutist with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and continues as a flutist with that organization. Mrs. Hall has served as an adjudicator for the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition, flute and band festivals, solo and ensemble contests around the state of Alabama. She has attended master classes with Julius Baker in Atlanta, Ga.; James Pellerite in Bloomington, Ind.; Mark Thomas in Baton Rouge, La.; and Jean P. Rampal in New Orleans, La. Mrs. Hall attended additional master classes with Frederick Wilkins, Shaul Ben Meri and Harold Jones, among others. | Mrs.
Hall has taught woodwinds class, music history, music
appreciation and private flute and saxophone
students. She served as Assistant Band Directress
for two years, in which she conducted both marching and
concert bands and conducted woodwind ensembles.
Mrs. Hall also continues to serve as a clinician and
consultant to concert band directors in Alabama and
Louisiana. Mrs. Hall is a member of the Music Educations National Conference, National Flute Association, American Association of University Professors, National Woodwinds Association, Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, lifetime member of Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Sorority and Sigma Alpha Iota Music Sorority. |
