Tahoe adventure...

The first ever Tahoe trip of 2001 started with a dinner in the Castro with Michelle at the Sausage Factory (much appropriate). We then met up with Eban and Randy at Michelle's place to tie our skis and boards to the broken ski rack with the bungee cords on pathie. With Too Short blasting on the radio, the drive to Tahoe with Eban and Randy took about 5 hours with Qtip calling every hour from the casino (yes, drunk) telling us that it will take about 7 hours from the Donner Pass. The cold breeze sneaking in from the undercarriage was a sure sign that this trip was going to be a memorable one...

It was not long before we went head to head with frightfully falling snow. Eban was in such an ecstasy mood: loving each snowflake as they covered his Pathie and impaired his visions. I guess we were all feeling little ecstasy with a little help from Randy and his "friend". Pretty soon, those little pesky snowflakes started to impair pathie's windshield wipers also. That is when Eban stuck his hand out the window to grab the wipers to shake them off. Oops!! Is that Eban with a wiper in his hand? Somehow, we managed to continue our journey to Tahoe..

Snow fell all night, making the drive to Alpine on Saturday that much more challenging. We did manage to grab some egg McMuffin from McD (and made plans to come back for dinner for some Happy Meals - gotta get those Disney Characters). We met up with Steve and his friends from Boston after enduring the wind, snow, and meeting wonderful Mr. tree. Michelle was brave enough (or talked into) coming down double black diamond with the boys, while I slipped, crashed, buried, and ran in to a ski patrol (not on purpose, I swear!! wink! wink!) on the blue run. After four cups of Hot Chocolates, I was ready for some real "crashing"....

Michelle and I grooved to Tupac blaring from the Kangaroo run while we were on the lift, but we got no love from the guy behind us. The run was full of jumps, moguls, and turns for the boarders. Michelle took one speedy run down with me and ran off with the boys to do some serious skiing. I, on the other hand, somehow talked myself into jumping the tabletop doing the superman. As I lay there in the snow, face planted in the soft powder (thank god!!) I hear, "Duuude, that was so cool!!" Needless to say, I found myself back in the lodge for more Hot Chocolate....

After long night of dancing and drinking, did I mention dancing? We decided to skip the skiing/boarding on Sunday and head on home. As we approached route 80, the traffic came to a dead stop. We waited for a while then this man (out of nowhere) drove by us telling us to drive east, not west. So there we went, east to Reno!! After the movie, "Traffic", and some gambling we were ready to brave the road once again. We were doing just peachy up to Auburn, then the traffic came to a dead stop again. Eban went for a walk (?) to see what was going on; meanwhile Randy, Michelle and I stayed in the car and drained pathie's battery. Once again, we managed to get back on the road (after jumper cable and more of Randy's "friend". After quick stop at In and Out, we were back in SF. And I drove home to San Jose, ending a great weekend with a long drive.

Remember the GWS!!
