Snow with the clone tool
As a newbie a lot of the tools in Paint shop Pro intimidated me and this clone tool was one of them.
I was determined that I would learn how it worked no matter how many hours it would take.
I searched the net for tuts on the clone tool and there were very few, so after trying over and over I came up with this technique for making snow for a snow globe, that I would like to share.
We are going to make SNOW the easy way with the clone tool.
Save this image to your graphics folder.
If you intend to use another image then your clone size will have to go according to your image.
So I would suggest you try it out on this image first and then have fun with your own.
1-Open Paint Shop Pro, click file, open, and find your image in your graphics folder.Click duplicate or press shift +D on your keyboard, close the original.
2-With your selection tool set at: circle, antialias checked, feather unchecked, draw a circle around the large deer on the right of the image. You can feather if you prefer by adding a few pixels. You should have an image like the one below.

3-Copy and paste this image as: transparant image. ( just in case you decide to use this for a snow globe) This is now what you should see, except your background will be transparant.

4-Open a new image 300X300 background white.
5-Click on the clone tool, and open your tools options palette.
Set your settings: Shape round=size192=Hardness 100=Opacity 100 step=30 Density=between 5 and 10. Build up unchecked.

5-Make sure both images are opened in paint shop.Your white image and your deer.
6-Right click in the center of the white image with your clone tool to get your snow, then left click in center of the deer image to set the snow.Save your work. The last image is the results with the snow.

If you want heavier looking snow just raise the density to a higher number. There are other brush tips that can be used to accomplish this effect.
