![]() Photo of Rhododendron was taken by me in my front yard. Using a digital camera, I got a good close-up of the flower & you can see the raindrops on the petals which is absolutely beautiful.Below is same picture but I'm using a java applet. As you can see the details of the flower, with it's yellow flecks in the middle, changes to many different colors.

The Rhododendron maximum, or “great laurel,” is the state flower of West Virginia. It was selected on January 29, 1903, by the Legislature, following a vote by pupils of the public schools. There are 8 divisions of the genus Rhododendron. Azalea comprise two of those divisions.
