Summer Day Camp

Transportation

When signing up for camp,  you will have the option of transportation. The school bus will pick up riders at a spot designated one week prior to the commencement of their camp experience.  The bus leaves The Double DD Ranch Inc. at 7:30 am and returns at 9:00 am.  Our route covers Orleans, Blackburn Hamlet, Gloucester Centre Shopping Centre, Beacon Hill, Convent Glen, and Cumberland.
 
 

Activities

Each day at camp is divided into four rotations.

Riding lesson:    English riding lesson, maximum of 6 students per group

Theory lesson:    Students will learn topics such as horse colours, parts of the horse, tack etc...  Topics are taught using crafts, games, and activities.

 Stable Management:     Hands-on time in the barn with the horses.  Topics may consist of Feeding, Leading and Handling, Bathing, Show Preparation etc... 

Riding activity:     Depending on the student's age and level, students will participate in activities such as: a trail ride, bareback,  western riding, Lungeing, or pony games.

On warm days, the riders may go swimming in an outdoor pool or participate in activities involving the entire camp.
 

Riding Attire:

Campers are not expected to have attire that is designed specifically for riding, but to insure a fun and safe week at camp, the following items are required:

* Long Pants
* Tall boots with a heel
* Helmet (bike helmets are acceptable)

Things to Bring:

* Swimsuit
* Bathing cap
* Towel
* Sunscreen and Hat
* Water cooler
* Lunch on Monday through to Thursday
 


Parents' Day:

On Friday mornings, parents, family and friends of the campers are invited to come and see their new riding skills.  Specific riding times will be sent home with campers on Thursday afternoons.  At 1:00pm there is a free barbeque for the campers. That afternoon there will be activities for the campers, and their departure will remain the same as the rest of the week.

General Information:

Your deposit must accompany your registration form and is non-refundable.  The balance is due on the first day of camp. To obtain maximum benefit from our program, two consecutive weeks are advisable. The camp hours are from 9:00am to 3:30pm.
