Isaiah 11 King James Authorized Version

1And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse,

and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

2And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him,

the spirit of wisdom

and understanding,

the spirit of counsel

and might,

the spirit of knowledge

and of the fear of the LORD

3And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD:

and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes,

neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

4But with righteousness shall he judge the poor,

and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth:

and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth,

and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

5And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins,

and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

When we first believed we received the Holy Spirit as our Tutor and Comforter.  I understood that as well as I could and I knew that absolutely the Holy Spirit indwelt me as soon as I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.  When I was baptized I noticed that my spiritual life was able to become more full.  Jesus has fully the seven spirits named in Isaiah 11.  All are one in the same with the Holy Spirit.  If we are to seek the LORD, His Righteousness, and His Kingdom; then we should know that Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Strength, Knowledge, and the Fear of the LORD are ours to have and that they dwell within us in the Holy Spirit.  These seem first things to realize and act upon.  These are all gifts that do not come from our abilities.  Our part is to accept them and have them manifest themselves fully within us and being mature and obedient in humility so that they manifest themselves outwardly.  As an example, Understanding is exercised by listening to others and discerning what is really going on with them.  We can be tutored by the Holy Spirit who has all understanding and act accordingly with that which we receive.  This is much different than the understanding the fleshly, natural part of us is capable of receiving.  We know that to live on the fleshly natural level spells death and that to live on the spiritual level is Life.  Discerning a situation is much different than judging the person. Zechariah was told by one of the Holy Angels that the Seven Spirits are the eyes of the LORD.  The LORD is at all places at all times, He is omnipresent and omniscient.  His Holy Spirit, the Seven Spirits dwell within us and we can know what He intends us to know.  We do not have to worry about knowing what it is that the LORD would have us know.  "For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth."  The Seven Spirits are: The Spirit of Yahweh, The Spirit of Wisdom, The Spirit of Understanding, The Spirit of Counsel, The Spirit of Strength, The Spirit of Knowledge, and The Spirit of the Fear of Yahweh.  It is extremely important to not court compromise in any way with the world as it distances us from knowing intimately the Seven Spirits, being able to yield to them, listen to them, be guided by them, and have our being in them.  I do not want to break with any of them.  I want to be reconciled to them.  Trading Strength for something of this world is not worth it, no matter how pleasing or how much it promises.  The Strength of the LORD is limitless and the counterfeit and substitute of the power of this world is poor in comparison.

Worldly power is something that flees and leads to death and destruction.  Compromise with evil things leads to destruction and participation in evil has us looking at things that are false, that do not last and that destroy us.  I would rather have the Seven Spirits and share in the things of the Holy Spirit.  All of the aspects of the Holy Spirit have spiritual counterfeits and natural counterfeits in this dark world system that lead to destruction and death. We have been warned by Paul that there are those who will mislead people and appear to be righteous, boasting with huge claims and false promises, "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." II Corinthians 11:13-15. The Holy Spirit has visible manifestations in our lives that lead to Life. The fruits of living yielded to the Seven Spirits and properly manifesting them are:

Love

Joy

Peace

Patience

Kindness

Generosity

Faithfulness

Gentleness

Self-control

Paul explained it this way:

"I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh.

For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want.

But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness,

idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions,

occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness,

gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Now those who belong to Christ (Jesus) have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit."

Galatians 5:16-26

The desires of the flesh are real and they are potent.  The thing to do is not to stick around or indulge in these manifestations that come from the flesh, the natural part of man.  The LORD warned through Moses to "Keep thee far from a false matter" in Exodus 23:7a and Paul admonished in his letter to the Romans to "Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good." in Romans 12:9a.

There are many who being deceived compromise with the world, the natural lusts and desires of the flesh, and teach others to do so.  We see that there are many who mock and laugh at Jesus and His Word, deriding any who follow the LORD.  Some churches have compromised themselves so much that a priest who committed adultery with a man, left his wife for that man, and lives in an openly homosexual relationship is actually being voted upon to be installed as a Bishop.  How much does anyone think he will abide any who wish to follow Jesus?  He is openly an enemy of God and misleads people on a daily basis.  This is happening now.  There are churches that practice many things in opposition to God.  We have politicians who have no love of God and who openly advocate adopting homosexual marriages as legal.  In countries in the West that are further along in their open hatred of God, homosexuals sue to take down signs that have any reference to God or His Word because they are offended and win!  People can go to jail for saying that homosexuality is a sin.  It is obvious to many people that evil is wrong but it appears that people who would be leaders and are leaders in this country embrace evil and encourage it making it part of their cause.  Now more than ever it is important to abhor that which is evil as even our church leaders are turning to evil as the way to be and teaching others to do the same.

"And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence. And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.

Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above. And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city. Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me. Then I spake unto them of the captivity all the things that the LORD had shewed me."

Ezekiel 11:18-25

"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them."
