Gina Picht and Beth McAllister –  Doula Care Agreement

Scope of Practice:
We provide prenatal information, emotional and physical support throughout your labor, and postpartum support and processing of your birth experience.  We can assist you in decision making by providing you with information and questions to ask, but cannot speak for you, or make or be responsible for your choices.  We cannot make medical diagnoses or “prescribe” things like herbs, etc.  We can provide you with resources and research findings if you are interested in learning more about such things.  Our goal is to put you in control of your experience, and provide you with calm reassurance and techniques to help you achieve your goals.  We will act in accordance with what you expect from us in relation to the other members of your birth team.  If a situation arises that requires one of us to transport you in our vehicle, we can assume no liability as to the possibility of an accident or sudden birth in the car, etc.

All-Inclusive Fee - $800 :  [click to view the economics of a doula's fee]
We limit the number of clients we will accept around your due date, as well as arrange our personal lives to ensure we will be available.  For these reasons, we request a non-refundable minimum deposit of $400 at the time of hire. You can mail it to: 8926 Knollwood Dr, Eden Prairie, 55347.  The balance can be paid at the 2nd prenatal visit.  The fee is regardless of the length of your labor.  It includes our initial consultation, 2 prenatal visits, entirety of active labor, a couple hours after the birth, a postpartum home visit, a copy of our birth notes, and postpartum phone/email support.  We will also take pictures of your laor & birth with your camera if you like.

In the unlikely event that a backup doula is called in, or if we both attend your birth due to extended hours, the fee would remain the same.  We do work with backup doulas who are very similar to our style and philosophy.  However, if you prefer someone specific for backup that can usually be arranged.  If you are without a doula through fault of our own, the non-deposit portion of my fee will be refunded.  Scheduled or emergency Cesareans, precipitous (too fast) birth, or lack of notification would not qualify for fee refund, but additional postpartum support may be arranged.

Note: Doula fees are eligible for most Flex Spending (cafeteria) accounts.  We will also provide forms you can submit to your insurance company.

Contacting us in labor:
We ask that you let the doula on-call know as soon as you begin to show signs of pre-labor, or any other notable developments at the end of your pregnancy.  We will remain in phone contact until the appropriate time to join you.  Please allow up to an hour for your doula to arrive.  Please leave a message if we do not answer the first number, then try the second and again, leave a message if not answered. You will be provided an on-call schedule around your due date.
