Australia is a land of contrasts- big cities and big industrial centres, small country towns, vast grasslands, tropical rain forests, snow fields of winter and the red deserts of the centre. Australia's people come from all the lands on earth, proudly united by being Australian.

Australia is a young Nation, you won't find cathedrals 400 years old here, but you will find ancient caves where the Aborigines celebrated their own spirituality. The vastness of the outback is immeasurable, a blistered land where there is no sense of time or distance- the never never land.

Our flora and fauna are just as unique, here you find flowers too unusual to be accepted and animals too unlikely to be believed.
The wild flowers of Western Australia are considered to be the best on earth.  The platypus and echidna are the worlds only egg laying mammals.  Fish that can breathe both under water and above water live in some Queensland rivers.  Tasmania has a mountain shrimp, that is a living fossil of a species traced back to the Triassic period of 200 million years ago.

Australia is indeed the lucky country, its a tolerant country, the mass of people have available to them a full range of civil liberties.
Australia was a world leader in the introduction of shorter working hours. We love our leisure time.

Most Australians are easy going, with an openness of manner that either impresses or appalls those who are used to social stiffness.   Here we have a cult of informality, with a sense of equality. We are always ready to help the battlers, or to give the underdog a fair go.   Here we believe those who are trying to make it should not suffer because of their own inadequacies.  Bludgers- those who take advantage of the situation- will not be tolerated for long.  Politians and Government Officials  generally aren't trusted.  They are the tall poppies of this country and so are treated with suspicion as are other wealthy people.

Most of the population live in the suburbs of the cities, where its the Aussie dream to own a house with a back yard.  We are the most suburban people in the world. We like our house and garden with a barbeque, where we can get together with our friends on the weekend.  Our leisurely life is not bothered by status, its enjoyed by all, with sport playing a major role.   We may not all be sporting heroes but we all enjoy the great outdoors, in this great country- Australia.
