Year In Review 2006

Dear Friends and Family,

Every year, I look at the collection of photographs that we've taken throughout the year to find things to write about and maybe settle on a theme. This year, there's no mistaking what 2006 is all about. Mr. Evan Pang, born 7/11/2006 at 9 lbs, 22 inches at 8:45a in Pleasanton, CA.

Needless to say we've had our hands full with our new addition, but Evan has been a good cooperative baby. He's currently eating well and sleeping through the night. He's quite predictable, and it's easy to figure out what he wants. However, day by day, that glimmer of comprehension in his eyes is slowly translating to awareness and pretty soon he'll start pushing buttons.

We've moved to Fremont to be close to Rene's relatives and the extra help is certainly welcome. As a side benefit, I've started motorcycling again, simply because it's easier to find parking at the local BART using two wheels. Gone are the days when I could walk to BART for a 25 minute ride to work from our former home in Oakland.

I've just relinquished my post as First Vice Commodore of the Cal Sailing Club, but I still manage a sail at least once a month. To keep in shape, I skate at the local rink and manage to pick up a few new tricks here and there.

In the new stuff category, I took my first hang gliding lesson in August. Originally, Rene and I were supposed to do this together, but since she was with child, it was not to be. Also, I got to experience the magic carpet that is the Segway (reviewed here) via a UC Berkeley transportation study.

Rene still enjoys her cadre of friends and was very excited about the opening of the Bloomingdales near the San Francisco Shopping Center. She's still at Oracle (doing Peoplesoft-related work) and I at Vodafone, currently focused on mobile video.

Hope the new year finds you healthy and happy.

Dan and Rene
